Ground it to the chassis then test the video feed (HDMI) on your unit before putting everything back together. On my Kenwood unit, it said the same thing. That wire was for my HDMI input. It makes it so the video will only show while in park. If that's really what you want, I don't recall where it's supposed to connect. I remember reading about it on here somewhere. However, if you just ground it instead, you'll have access to the feature full time (even while driving). Worked for me.... but test it since Pioneer may be different.

Hey guys/gals...looking for a bit of help/info on replacing my 2011 LTD stock NV/radio system with an updated one. Here's what it says on the window sticker off the truck about the unit, it's coded as "NV";
"Voice-Activated Touch Screen DVD System with integrated backup camera, JBL AM/FM 4 disc CD changer with MP3/WMA Playback capability, XM Radio with NAV traffic"
Big question is, will the 2016/17 NAV unit a plug-n-play replacement for a 2011 LTD ? Any help appreciated ....thanks

You should try in the 5th gen forum
This thread is for 4th generation Urban Runners. I don't know how much 5th gen expertise there is here.

I just picked up a trail edition with the TomTom gps head unit. Can I swap a normal SR5 head unit out into this and have everything be plug and play? I'm not a fan of aftermarket head units and want the stock look. My prior 4runner had the basic Toyota head unit and it was perfect.

yes. it will fit. it might not be a simple plug n play though cause the tomtom unit has a different plug on the rear. you might need to cut and reconnect the wires but it will work

Hmm OK thanks. Any idea how difficult it will be to splice wires and figure out what goes where?

@ JeffMerr
super easy to splice. you just need some butt connectors and heat shrink. there are multiple links out there (including some in my sig) with wiring diagrams.

Just want to make sure that the tomtom gps unit is not tied to my auto dimming mirror with compass? If I replace it with a normal SR5 head unit the compass in the mirror will stil function? Thanks

not related at all. I have the dimming mirror/compass and removed the unit with no issues.

Hey Jeff, I have a 2009 Trail Edition as well and am on the fence about cutting/splicing for my head unit upgrade.
Did you end up doing it?
Results?

I think you have to cut/splice since its a different harness on the tomtom units. its not that big of a deal as long as its done correctly and you aren't cutting them too short.

Agreed, it shouldn't technically be that hard with a reliable cross-reference / diagram. I found a diagram for the UrbanRunner factory wiring, but the colors don't match pin-for-pin on any of the connectors I've got...
