Kicker Comp 12s vs. Kicker CVR 10s?
so christmas is about here and my girlfriend is getting me some subs. at radio shack for two 12 comp and two 10 cvrs are the exact same price(both in box). so my question is which will be best for the money? with having a spare tire in my trunk i'm thinking the 10s would do best since it would take up less trunk room, but then again i do have a roof rack so its not that big of a deal.

I would definitely go with the 10" CVR's, They will hit so much harder than the comps. I have heard one 10" CVR outperform a 12" JL W7. In both SPL and SQ. I have 2 CVX's which are the next level up from the CVRs and love em'. Blew both rear windows out too.

Out of those I would take the CVR's. If the limit is about $100, I would go with a single 12" Alpine Type R. It's always impressive to do more with less.
What kind of power are you working with?
juice- I HIGHLY doubt you blew any window out with only two CVX's. How much power are you giving them?

3,000 watts RMS, Way over the subs rating, in a 8.0 cubic (4 cubic per sub) inch blueprinted box. My friend is sponsored by kicker and has the same car. They paid for the box and subs so we didn't care if we blew the subs too. It wasn't in my car it was my friends 99 sport. I'll see if I can dig up the pics.

I'd be very interested to see those. Steve Meade is running 8 18" BTL's on two Rockford Fosgate T15kW's and he isn't breaking windows, yet.
I bet those subs smelled great with 3,000 on them.

I was just as shocked as you when it happened. and yes they smelled fantastic! They should bottle that smell and put it in an air freshener.

The Key is the box, It was custom blueprinted specifically for that truck. And we were playing a single tone at 32 Hz. It wasn't a song with a little bit of bass here and there, it was a tone that played for a few seconds straight.

well the 12s were about twenty dollars cheaper so i told my girl to just get those. they did have some two 15 orion cobalts for 230 in a box, but i heard that they were low level subs so i just got the kicker.
now should i get a cobalt or power akoustic amp?

I run the 2 Kicker 12' CVR's in a ported box running about 450 watts to each from my mono block Kicker amp (750.1 , 946 watts rated at factory...push my sh!t to the limit haha). Need to invest in lots of Dyamat though

Do you have the specific model number or a link to them?
I don't think Power Akoustic will do rated power.

not sure, the guy at radio shack (how has a pretty nice 4runner on 22s) told me that the power acoustik was probably the 3rd choice, then he showed me the two orion ones with the first being "overkill" has he put it. so i'm probably gonna go with the number 2 orion amp.
