Hitch Hauler.......who has one and what do you think.

Well, obviously I haven't been around much over the last two years. The twins pretty much take up all of our time, which includes T4R time.

Anyway, i was curious who all had tried Hitch Haulers and what they thought. Also, if you like a specific type, please let me know what kind? Thanks.

I have been looking also. They are quite expensive, but I think it would be easier than pulling a trailer. I have found a couple of websites of dealers that shows the many models available. My favorite is the ROLA I think because the box can be removed and use the tray by itself. I have no experience with any of these, but I do have a Thule roof mount cargo box, that I like alot.

Oh, I have seen the Stowaway brand on a Tahoe running up the interstate once and it was a good looking unit. It was the first one I have seen with built in tail lights. I see now via the web that others have this too.

Hope this helps some.

I has one and used it a couple times, I didn't like the extra weight that far back on the vehicle. I ended up selling mine, and would rather pack less, put on roof rack or tow a trailer.

I have one that I used to haul a VW air cooled engine back from FL to VA (1000 miles) plus couple boxes of parts. Worked great. No air drag like stuff on roof (which also raises center of gravity -- think roll over). Mine is heavy steel and folds up out of the way. I'd look at a light alloy one next time (just so I can move easier to store). Great for hauling lawn mowers too.

I have a Hitch Witch cargo rack that I purchased on eBay from the company that makes them. I like it. Although it's supposed to hold up to 500 lbs I haven't tried that much weight on it. I have piled about 15 bags of mulch and top soil (25-30 lbs each) on it and strapped it down. Seemed to be pretty stable. I bought it as a way to tote gardening/yard stuff from Home Depot to the house. I haven't tried it on a trip yet.

Anyway, I like the rack. It's very heavy duty and seems to be made really well.
