scion with two line in adapters?

Thanks Bobbie,
That's an idea...but how would the HU choose? Does the XM module for the Scion HU just plug in? If it does and you operate the XM radio via buttons on the HU then maybe there could be a pass thru of hte XM module on to the iPod? Maybe there is someone here who has installed a similar setup?

Have you tried search the scionlife forum? Also I like this website for stereo adaptors. http://www.installer.com/aux/

Intalled XM

So I got the Scion XM reciever for the Scion radio and installed it on my 4runner. So far it is awesome. Sound quality is crystal clear. The XM is fully controllable through my steering wheel controls. It has 3 SAT channel line ups and I can program 6 sations in to a line up for a total 18 programed channels. I can chage stations by genre, and using the text button i can make it show the artist, song, genre, station name, or station number.

It took me about 3 hours to remove the dash, the passenger seat, and the old Xm, and install the new one.

I ran the antenna under the door rail where the running board wires are and tucked it in between the headliner and plastic in the trunk area, so that the antenna in in the rear top of my runner.

It was all plg and play. the antenna connects to the reciever, the reciver connects to the cd changer port of the Scion radio.

NOTE, this does not activate the CD tuner, but the SAT one like in the picture.

notice that the reciever has another port in case you ever one to add a CD changer later.

everything you need comes in the kit.

The brackets also include this rubber tar sticker so the it sticks securley tot he body frame under the carpet. The bracket are elevated as to not conflict with the floor A/C vent.

The pasenger seat slides perfectly back and forth with no conflict with the XM reciever.

And for the price I paid, $269, it was well worth it, to have it running from my steering wheel, have clear clean sound, and be able to use all the equalizer options of the Scoin radio with the XM.

There's the solution!!!

Thanks -2K34R,
There's my solution to adding both XM and iPod while still retaining steering wheel controls! Your instructions are great. So, if you get the Scion HU with the XM module you still have the CD changer port available for an iPod adapter such as the ICE or the PIE? Does that seem like a solution? One question, what is the Scion HU model# To look for?
Thanks,
Tory

T1804

Yes, your XM will work through the SAT tuner, and your iPOD will work through your CD changer tuner, by pressing the CD button twice to change between single CD and CD changer.

Great work! One question…the XM-receiver connects to the CD-changer port on the Scion. How exactly? The XM receiver will come with cable, but it will not have the CD-changer port connecter at the end unless you specify for Scion? Or did you find an adaptor for this?

In addition to ll the brackets and screws you will get 4 major componenets.

1) The ground cable - little black one

2) The antenna - Yellow and green one

3) The cable to connect the reciever to the radio - big black one

4) and the reciever. - notice that next to the big black cable there is another white port. The little white port is the same as the CD changer port on the back of the radio. Since the the big black cable goes from the reciever to the cd changer port on the back of the radio. They provided you with an aditional port for your cd changer.

So in other words, you can use the oem toyota cd changer, put in under the drivers seat and plug it right into the xm reciever under the passenger seat.

If you got an aftermarket cd changer, you would need a pie adapter, which is also and exact fit into cd changer port.

last one, promise

notice the marks on the carpet. I put the reciever down first to make sure it sat over the vent and didn't bump into anything.

Then marked the spots for the screws in the carpet.
