4th Gen 4Runner Tire sizing up?

After 60K miles the stock GrandTrex Dunlop on my 4th Gen 4Runner lost the threads on the side so is time for replacement. I have been looking at buying the BG AT/KO 265/70-17 instead of the stock side of 265/65-17. So does anybody knows if I can install this tire size without lifting my truck? I know that the truck will ride 3% slower so my speedometer will display the incorrect speed...I am OK with that.

Thanks

Yes, they'll work and they'll look great Due to the 'squareness' of the BFG it may rub on a smooth area of the UCA (upper control arm) when the wheel is fully cut. Most don't worry about it and have no issues. All other 265/70/17's seem to work without the light rubbing when the wheel is fully cut. It may* also require a minor fender liner tweak outlined toward the bottom of this page.

*may- Some need to do it, some don't. That's how close it is. Many opt for wheelspacers or FJCruiser rims to move the wheels out & away from the UCA. If you do that you will need to do the minor fender liner adjustment.

Hey thanks for the advice. So sounds like rubbing is a possibility and it is something that some are willing to live with. I noticed the liner mod and it looks easy. The problem that I have is that in the 265/65-17 there is just a few options of agressive tires so next most popular size is 70...I think I will go for it and handle the issues as the pop up.

Thanks.

100% and the pricing of 70's is actually better! You are aware that the BFG A/T is avail in a 265/65/17. The downside is that it's an 'E' load range vs a 'C' load range. 1 or 2 here have the 65 BFG A/T and say they ride ok. If it were me I'd opt for the 70 though. Big improvement in looks and slight increase in ground clearance.

What's you opinion on the Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac 265/70R17 112/109 Load Range C...I've heard that it is quiter than the BFG AT but the speed rating is slower.

QLoad Index 112 = 2484lbs (1129kg) per tire
Load Index 109 = 2271lbs (1030kg) per tire
Speed Rating "Q" = 99mph (160kph)

I wouldn't worry about the speed rating...

I have no personal knowledge of the Duratrac. A few here have them and seem very excited. Search and you should find some comments. I think one or two at T120 have them too.

I'm running the 265/70/17 BFG AT's. Mine don't rub any more than my stock 65 Dunlops. I guess my allignment is such that something is closer than it should be, but it doesn't bother me. They only run when doing a quick, sharp turn uphill while braking. I havn't had them rub on the mild offroad trips I've done.
