VSC Off Mod Done

Thanks to CJ3Flyr for the write-up:
http://www.toyota-4runner.org/perfor...-complete.html

I decided with the snow approaching I'd take care of the Traction Control Defeat Switch. I also went ahead and did the Contant 12V Power mod while I was in there.

I picked up a "chrome" toggle switch off of eBay which has an amber LED tip for a couple bucks. It is very nice, when the flip is switched up, defeating traction control, the tip lights up amber and it matches the amber/orange dash lighting. If interested just search ebay for "amber toggle switch." FYI, it has three prongs on the back. I connected the wire from the traction control module to the (+) terminal, and then ran the ground wire from the (-) terminal, with the middle terminal untouched.

Here are some pics. The picture color is not very good but it does match.

Everything appears to be working just as described. I do have one question, do the dash lights stay on even after the defeat switch it turned back off? Until the car is restarted? Is VSC back on or does it stay off until restart?

Looking at this other thread's comments, it would seem that by using the LED, the wire that you tapped from the ECU isn't fully grounded. If you wire the switch to bypass the LED and operate as a normal on/off switch, then it'll work without restarting the engine.

Edit: I just realized I commented on a thread from 2009 - it is 2021 now
