dvd dome lights not working

i bought an 03 4runner limited last week and it has this 7in screen on the roof hooked up to a dvd player. it works fine, but there are two dome lights on this unit that do not work at all. i took it off today only to find that it is hooked up properly (i think), with the wires tapped into the 3 factory wires.
so my question is, why arent these lights working? the bulbs do not look burned out... what else could it be?

ill try to get a pic up tomorrow...

Stupid question but is there a 3 position switch like OEM dome light? Always off/always on/door switch controlled. Maybe its in off position. A $5 volt/ohm meter would let you see if its getting juice.

sorry haven't had a change to get pics up yet but, no, it does not have a selector switch. it has two buttons, one door button and one light on button. im going to get new bulbs soon and try that.
could it be the fuse though? my map lights and cargo lights work as they should...

Here are the pics...

the unit.

the wiring diagram from manuel.

how it is wired. If you cant see, the white ribbon wire that is split it the factory light wire. the gray wire from the unit it hooked to the center ribbion wire. the yellow is connected to one of the side ribbon wires, and the black is hooked to the other side ribbon wires. the red (acc) is not connected.

the bulb. i haven't been able to find replacement yet.

well, there it is. like i said, the lights do not work.
HELP ANYONE??

DVD Dome Lights

I just purchased a '08 with a similar player. Both the Door and Dome lights only come on when my ignition is on and only when depressed, the Door switched does not do anything when a door is opened.

Also the rear lift gate light does not work, haven't spent much time on it yet.

get a volt meter. measure the voltage at the factory connector and trouble shoot from there.

akablig: thats strange. considering it is tapped into the factory wires, you would think that it would work like the factory dome lights work.
tonyxcom: how much are those? and is it hooked up correctly? why is the red wire not wired to anything?

Seems the way its wired the black always hot wire was used to power the DVD - so it plays when the car is turned off. Probably good idea or whenever you stopped for gas, the kids would scream that the movie shut off. Seems you need a jumper wire from that always on power to the dome light so it is powered when you open the door to get in. On mine the red wire is used in the OEM optional Rear Audio System (just audio no DVD or video screen) - it turns off when you turn off the key.

nothing works with key off

So I have something similar. My son replaced stereo and now nothing works when the key is off (no trickle charge to clock, dome lights don't work, electric looks don't work, security system doesn't work). Not sure how to fix. Is there a fuse to the trickle charge (always on power)?
