Weight Distributing Hitch Questions

I need to tow my boat a few hundred miles in a month or so. My old rig was a Montero Sport with Airlift bags to compensate for a cargo load and tongue weight. I may add the same to the 4R in the future, but am also exploring the option of using a weight-distributing hitch. Has anyone used one with a 4th gen T4R? Any brand recommendations, and tips for installation/setup? I'm looking at a few different models:

Round Bar Style Weight Distributing Hitches - JCWhitney

Amazon.com: Valley 70220 Weight Distributing Hitch: Automotive

I understand from reading that you want to get the Max tongue and trailer weights close to your actual trailer weights. IOW, if my tongue weight is 300# and my trailer weighs 3500, I should go with a hitch rated 600/5000 instead of 1000/10000.

Any help, thoughts or feedback appreciated. Thanks.

After more research, it seems the small crossmember-mounted hitch receiver is NOT designed to be used with a weight-distributing hitch. Is there a significant safety or damage concern with this combo? Has anyone successfully towed with the OEM weight-carrying hitch receiver and a weight-distributing hitch?

Thanks.
