I think the max lift comment does not apply to 4th gens. I know a few 4th gen guys with bumpers, winches etc... that run Icon and get the full 3 inches of lift.

The generation does not matter. A prerunner style bumper with a winch works OK, but according to the accessories that are listed, a 118lb Shrockworks bumper, a 40lb winch and solenoid, 10lbs of custom copper length 2/0 winch power cables, a 20lb roller fairlead, 15lbs of steel winch cable, 10lbs of fog and driving lights, a 48lb battery (dual batteries or single Optima), 80lbs of front and transmission under armor, 50 to 70lbs of sliders and that 400lbs of extra weight becomes a serious issue. ICON front coilover springs are 13.5" long and are rated for 650lbs max. ICON coilovers can not be adjusted out farther than 2 1/8" of thread showing to achieve more lift and overcome the weight. If pushed past that point then the shock tube buckles. ICON states that the shock springs can not handle that much weight and that they do not offer a higher spring weight capacity of 650 lbs for the Toyota. The ideal weight is no more than 250lbs of accessories to still achieve 3" inches of workable lift, after that the 3" starts to decrease. ICON highly does not recommend the use of spacers as this has adverse affects on the dynamics of the behavior of the shock/coil spring.

Ok, so get stage one then right?

I have been reading around and herd many testimonies about people replacing the rear coil with the piggyback saying its better. also a 1.25"-1.5" BL should not affect the ride of ICON should it?
As for the UCA, ICON has the cover over the bearing to protect it from debris (selling point for me). Does camburg offer anything like that?
Rar, Its my DD but i tend to take it off-road in colorado. I wish to be able tackle mid level trails with minor issues. I have no intention of dessert running so i wont have the overheating issue you speak of i think.

Piggybacks may not be needed for your application unless you plan to carry more weight in the back and plan to stick with icon.

You shouldnt feel any negative affects with a BL and the icon setup. A lot of people run the combo with no complaints.

Icon is the only one that offers a cover IIRC. The cap covers the top but debris still get in from the bottom. Just remember, if you do get the icons, you still need to clean it off from time to time or else you'll end up having to replace the bearing (speaking from experience).

Have you considered light racing uca?

First off let me thank you soooo much for answering my question. Ive been looking for the past couple weeks for an answer.

Light racing UCA.
Ive been hearing and seeing people get them and I want to go with the all ICON look. ICON UCA are a selling the idea that they have a debris cover on the top. Well with that said i feel more comfortable going with it. I clean my truck after every off road excursion, so maybe light racing uca is the right choice and they might be cheaper. Im on the line now talking about it.

No worries.

I hear you about getting the full set. I didn't want to deter you from getting the ICON's..far from it. just wanted to call out that the cap doesn't keep everything out. If you clean your truck everytime, then you'll be fine. A few drops of Finish Line Dry teflon lube every few months and you'll keep them happy and squeak free.

Light Racing UCA are definitely cheaper. They are sealed so you won't need to maintain them and they won't squeak.

In relation to concerns over weight carrying, our coilovers can be supplied with 700lb springs. This is the most common spring for those people carrying significant weight. Alternatively a 650lb spring works great for the lightly modded truck.

To the OP - sounds like you should go for a 2.0 system that you can adjust from 0-3" of lift. Make sure to purchase a system that is valved correctly for your intended weight carrying and use, otherwise you may find yourself throwing good money after bad.

Try to think long term. Cheaper systems might meet a budget now, but down the track you might find yourself investing in a better setup and that can be frustrating. Also we recommend you consider rebuildable shocks. All parts have a need for some TLC at some stage. Its nice to be able to simply rebuild rather than buy a whole new setup.

Just some thoughts.

Regards
Mark

I had the rear v2's for less than a year before they started leaking. Also did not like how the digressive valving performed for daily driving over pot holes and speed bumps. Wouldn't buy again.

I have the Icon Stage 1 and I love it. I am sure there are cheaper options-but I don't have much of a background in this stuff so I went with what seemed to be the best.

Only had it a few weeks so have not been off-road much. But great for inner-city rock crawling...and with the terrible roads and construction projects in Dallas there is lots of opportunity for that.

i need some suggestions on this as well... my 05 2wd limited is going to be a pre runner eventually, so what are good mid travel/long travel rear shocks?

i specifically need rear shocks now because currently i have a spindel lift in the front with stock springs and bilstien 4600(i think)... the rear has the same bilstiens but i recently added toytec 2.0 HD springs and i think they are maxing out travel really bad... even the smallest bump i can hear and feel it "thuding" unless i go really slow lol...
