Smoked Tail lights...? anyone?
Dude, I'm a huge fan of having Smoked Tail lights...I always wanted to have smoked tail lights. Does anyone know where i can get some? I love the silver/black combination. It gives it a suttle look. Good stuff...thanks.

Man I love that look too! I always wanted to do it myself but i was scared I would mess up my taillights. I might try to find someone to do it for me.

You could make your stock tail lights smoked by using a paint called Nite Shades. Do a search online for it and you'll find quite a few places that sell it.

My buddy was considering getting his tails done here...
http://www.jonstintedtails.com/index.htm
They color-match tails as well as tint them. No pricing info though. You'll have to contact them to find out more details.

I was doing a search for the Nite Shade that Derek recommended right...It said "It's recommended for off-road use only, as it may not be legal in some areas." I don't know what to do... Should i get some nite shade for the looks or stay legal and keep them stock. Thanks for all the replies too!

There's a guy on the 350z forums that makes vinyl overlays for headlights/tailights/etc that will look the same as tinting your lights with nightshade paint only they're removeable. I'm sure he'd consider doing some for a 4runner. They're offered in several different shades also. Apparently people are very happy with them. Here's the website:

Here is the link to where these smoked covers were discussd before:

Sounds like a better option that having it permanently done. The black JDM taillight are a lot more $$, but look incredibly cool. Here is a link to the thread on the chrome ones, but I think there is links within that thread that lead to the black ones:

Those looks awesome...i want that on my ride! Thanks for all the feedback. The only question i have is where can i get the overlay like the one from the 350z forum? it says 30 bucks, i don't mind paying that much for them if you can remove them too. Sounds good to me. Thanks again.

Those are actually hard plastic covers and don't allow much light to come through. With the vinyl overlays you can choose how dark you want to go, and it can be shaped easily to do other areas light fogs/headlights, etc etc.

I contacted that guy from the 350Z forum listed above. He stated he doesnt make the tailight covers. So you can consider that option dead.

well...he does make vinyl tail/headlight overlays for other makes/models (see link to his galley above). He would probably make one for the 4runner if enough people asked for it. It's not worth his time to make 1 or two of these i'm sure.

I did suggest that a lot of us were interested, but he didnt say anything about him only making it if more people were interested. I did check out his site by the way, and I really wanted the 3/10 tint for mine!
