Turn down exhaust?
I really hate the look of the stock exhaust on my 4runner. I'm probably gonna end up just painting the tip to blend in, but I've got another idea. I've read where several members cut off the resonator and had the exhaust routed to right behind the passenger side tire. Would there be any issues/problems if I had the resonator cut off, then just had a turn down tip installed? I really think having the exhaust tailpipe hidden would really clean up the look of the 4runner. Thanks for any input.

I installed a magnaflow muffler in place of the stock muffler and have it dumping right before the rear axle, this takes care of the sulfur smell and sounds quite nice since its in the middle of the vehicle

I removed had my resonator and had the exhaust rerouted out the side. Couldn't be happier with the results....

Do think that this can be a DIY or should you take it to a muffler shop. When I was still in highschool I went to Midas to see about a custom catback. basically a muffler and a turn down pipe. I wanted a magnaflow muffler and they said $120 for the muffler and another $150 for the labor. just wanted to know as I'd like a nice exhaust system before the fall semester.
