now lets talk capaciters

a Cap is a device used to hold and store power so's not to put extra strain on battery and alternator? so lights don't dim when bass hits? is this correct? anyone running them? pros and cons if you have any. thanks

dont use cap, waste of money, i use a second battery, just got myself a KINETIK KHC800 from audiosavings, cheapest price for it too, instead of paying over 200, voltage is more stable and it fits nicely in the trunk, i mount mine with a case and secure it to a peice of wood, then use a strap and use the bolt hole where the hooks on the floor is and its secure, i mount it right at the bottom of the rear storage compartment, its not to big to take up alot of space, ill take a pic if i can.

single farad caps are indeed a waste it only becomes worthwhile if you get into hybrid caps that are 10 20 50 rockford fosgate makes some that are great the benefit to a cap over a battery is the load of the device most 12V auto batts can create as much as a 40amp load also a cap will recharge and discharge much much faster than any battery could dream of. i'm unsure of the kenetic i do know that they are great batts tho initally ii would upgrade the batt under the hood and ensure you use good cabling to your amps (bigger is better) also a solid ground is paramount

I haven't purchased anything yet, wondering what I should go with, may run 2 amps, not sure, want to do it right the first time. I'm not new to car audio, just never got into caps. I had a lanzar vibe amp running a whole car, it was 800 watts I believe, 4 channel, ran 2 subs in band pass, and all my mids and highs, it was crazy. not sure that was the best thing or what it was made for, but it did the job, may be somewhat more refined this go around.

I wouldn't bother with a capacitor either unless you're running thousands of watts to some serious subs, and playing them really loud. A second battery or high output alternator would be a better solution, although perhaps more expensive.

just upgrade the main battery with one of these, ODYSSEY Drycell PC 1700MJT, i have that as my main battery and the KINETIK KHC800 in the back for the sub amp, works like it should right now, if u want u can put a bigger battery in the back, i was thinking KINETIK KHC1400 at most for space wise, i do also have a spare interstate mega tron, marine deep cycle battery, i think its like the group 34, it will fit in the back , but u will also need to fab a mount to secure it. all i have in my truck is that odyssey and the kinetik.

I say don't do a thing. Your truck already has a beefy battery & alt. If you plan on running audio while parked for extended periods of time I would investigate a deep cycle battery, that's it.

I run my stereo for a couple hours of the stock battery and it drains it a bit but I have yet to not be able to start, and I have some decent power draw.

A Cap is a waste of money, If you are only going to be running 800 watts I would just leave everything stock, maybe do the Big 3 upgrade and a Yellow Top or something from Odyssey or Kenetik, nothing extreme though.
