Aftermarket Head Units
Hey guys! Just wondering what you are using as aftermarket head units. I have a 05 Sport and am looking to get a new deck. The things I'm looking for are Ipod compatibility and in dash CD. I have no clue about these things so I thought I'd get some advice from you guys. I went to a store today and the guy couldn't sell me on anything!
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Doug

I literally just got done installing the Pioneer AVIC X920BT and I love it! I have an '05 SR5 that I put it in to. I bought mine recently at Amazon for 30% off. Think they are still on sale (I have an email on it but don't see a coupon code) until September 4th.
Blue tooth works great with my iPhone and the on dash controll is cool too! =)

Love the look of that but its a little pricey for me. I was thinking more single din but still very compatible and easy to use with the ipod.
GG, that is a sweeeet HU though. Thanks for the advice. Just sad I can't afford that right now.

I also like the look of those navi units. I also can't afford them. I am looking for a single din, since my navigation just drowned a couple weeks ago I am looking into the pioneer decks. If you don't plan on doing component upgrades and stuff, then you can go for the regular ones, with the 2V output. I'm going to get one with 4V i think, just because one day, if I ever find a job, I'd like to do a semi-serious sound upgrade in the truck. Anyway, here's what I would suggest if you are going to go with 2V in order from least expensive to more expensive:
DEH-2200UB
DEH-3200UB
DEH-P5200HD
All three are single din, in-dash CD, and iPod control-ready. Only the last one has bluetooth, sat radio compatibility, and iTunes tagging. All features I don't much care for, but if you do, you might want to go for the last one.

I love my Pioneer, have had it for a couple months now, single din, ipod, voice activated bluetooth, Talk into a mic mounted on the rearview and hear the other person through the vehicles speakers, hd ready etc, everything but a dvd navigation, but will support any and all addons....the best Pioneer Ive owned yet

Happy to help. I just picked mine out tonight as well:
Pioneer DEH-P4200UB CD receiver at Crutchfield.com
Nice thing is that they are actually a bit cheaper than what's listed on the Pioneer website

Ok, I can save you money on this. They don't show it on the item page, but Amazon does offer 30% off on this right now (through Sept 4th) using coupon code: UIBMC8UY - making it $122.50 from them w/free shipping - good on most the pioneer models - 3200, 4200, 5200, 6200, 7200 (the 4200 & 5200 are priced the same - (4v pre-outs & nicer display vs built-in hd radio).
Granted Crutchfield does offer the free installation kit, but should be able to save some cash getting it from Amazon still.

You, my friend, are the man. Why should I have to pick between the 4v pre-ous and nicer display vs built in hd radio? With your coupon code, I can get the 7200 for $1.99 LESS than what i was going to get the 4200 for!!!! All I have to do is buy a dash kit (~$10). Thanks!!

P6200bt
I just bought the P6200BT this weekend on the Amazon 30% off deal. I also got the dash kit (Scosche Ta2044B Pocket Kit For 2003 and Up Toyota 4-Runner) and the wiring harness (SCOSCHE TA02B Wiring Harness for 1987 and up Toyota.)
That should be all I need correct?
BTW where are the instructions for removing the 2005 dash/stereo? For some reason I can't find them with search.
I found these: http://www.castulucci.com/projects/carpc/oemnaviaccess/

Ya you should be good to go, so long as you ordered the right wiring harness (with or without JBL). And that's the best writeup there is about taking the dash apart. It's not hard. Especially once you do it a few times haha

Awesome! Thank you! I ended up going with the Pioneer DEH-P5200HD since so many people suggested Pioneer.
Thank you all for your help! I greatly appreciate it!

Most Eclipse HU are 8v Pre-outs. But in the long run none of us would be able to tell that much difference I dont think
