FJ vs. Tacoma springs?
A lot of talk on here about running FJ springs. But what about running Tacoma springs? Obviously I am comparing the front springs. Would Tacoma springs lift the 4runner more or less than using FJ springs? Another question is, are the Trail Teams Edition FJ springs different than regular FJ springs?

Thats a good ? I would think they would work. The TT springs are the same as the reg. fj but the shocks are a hevier duty Bilstein vs the std. Tokicos.

Looking at the lower control arm it looks as though the Taco springs are even longer the FJC springs. (That's assuming the top of the strut mount is in the same relative position.) I want to try a set or better yet I want someone else to try a set and write it up Obviously I am comparing the front springs. The only difference in FJC springs is a slight difference 2wd to 4wd.

Find me a used set and send them, I'll do it I'll give my feedback and I'll give the springs back if I don't like them I'm ready to go up a little more...

Are they even readily available like the FJ springs are. Could probably get a set for free from someone that upgraded just based on no demand currently.

tacoma springs
has anyone tested this theory yet??? i just got a nice set of bilstein tacoma struts and shocks, but im currently running fj spring and shocks all the way around. now i was riding next to a tacoma with a same size tires and a 3" lift on the highway and his truck did seem to be higher then mine plus where i live in south jersey there tons of lifted tacomas and they all seem to look bigger then me. maybe its and illusion because the tacoma has a taller hood and a more bull nose where the 4runner has a gentle slope to it. any info before i pull the trigger on a set of tacoma spring and have to find out the hard way lol

tacoma springs
i found my answer about 20 min ago on fj cruiser forum and this guy put tacoma springs in his fj and turns out his fj is nose high, even if it settled at best it would just be even which on an fj is still a gain since they have a rake just not as drastic as our 4runners have. needless to say ill be doing this as soon as i have the tacoma springs

tacoma springs
ok tomorrow is the big day ill be swapping my fj springs w/ tokicos for tacoma springs with yellow and blue bilsteins which are everything is brand new and i got off ebay the springs and 4 bilsteins cost me 180 shipped. ill do before and after measurements. i will tell u front what i noticed the tacoma springs are heavy and they were pretty tough for my spring compressor to compress so i could get everything together and ready for tomorrow. if it works out the way i think its gonna ill probably need to lift the rear even higher then it already is. btw the rear has fj springs with fj 1.5 spacer and 1.25 bolt in spacer plate and its only and 1in higher then the front right now.

Sorry I didn't post earlier, but I tried this mod. I got some springs off a 2003 tacoma, and they fit perfectly. Be aware I have the 2WD 4th gen. However, the springs were about an inch taller unsprung, and at least 40% thicker. They lifted my front end about 2 1/2 inches, and the ride is surprisingly smooth for truck springs. Its relatively easy to do, and good for a cheap front end lift.

tacoma vs fj
ok the tacoma springs are monsters next to fj springs. before i started from the ground to the bottom of the fender i measured 37 1/8, after i measured 38 7/8. front end is def. nose high. my rear measures 38 1/2. so looks like ill need some new spring and shocks. now with the tacoma struts and springs and a 3 in spacer your front suspension is def. maxed out. im hoping th efront end settles alil but not much since the springs are brand new and as for the rear bilsteins i hoped to use off the tacoma well thats def a no go the bottom holes off the shock are wayyyy to small.
heres a side by side of the fj spring and tacoma spring

Anyone else done this? I have a buddy with a 06 taco that he's lifting and he'd give me the springs if I wanted them. I plan to do 5100's with them if I got them.

So you basically got a 1 3/4" lift over an fj set up? Would that mean 2+" over stock? Just curious before I put the fj's in
