New shocks/struts advice

I'm on a budget and I've been hearing good things about KYB shocks, the type I've been looking at are Gas A just and they would come up to around $240 with tax and all for 2 struts and 2 shocks, but I would like to know if there are any other types that are good for a reasonable price. Any info would be much appreciated thanks!

I liked running the KYB's on my previous vehicles and are a good shock to go with.

Depends. What kind of ride are you looking for? If it's a cushy luxurious ride forget the KYBs. We have those (GF had them installed before I was a part of the picture). They are pretty stiff. If you have 4wd and go offroad they would be great. Not so good as a freeway cruiser. They are something akin to riding a bull.

I forgot to mention that I want a soft ride that is good on freeway bumps and streets not gonna off road with it much.

I drove three separate 5000 mile trips in about 10-15 days each trip on my bilstiens, very comfortable after driving 22-24 hours straight some days, i just pulled them off when i got my lift and got the old man emu coils and shocks for the front 882's since i have a winch bumper, and honestly i think i'm going to switch them out for some billies. I can get the part number for you if you want tomorrow, but the truck rode nice for those trips, the thing is though everyone's butt guage is a bit different alot of people with my set up like it, it's just a tad to harsh for some of the overland travels i do, i plan on doing round trip from seattle to tennessee next summer so will be doing something a bit different and adding some beefed sway bars.

My votes for the billies though

My 2 cents

I am looking at new shocks too; after 125k definitely time for new shocks. I am looking for off road performance without a lift so these might not be what your looking for but I was impressed with the Nitro 9000s here Rough Country Nitro 9000 Shocks from Wheeler's Off-Road, Inc. I talked to the guy and they sound legit.

This place is also pretty sweet, lots of great options and noticed they have a good price on KYB's. really long URL.

*be advised* I'm a huge noob.

I'm kinda leaning towards KYB but still would like some more opinions, this is the first time I'll be changing out the shocks and struts I've been on stock at 160k now. Previous owner didn't change them out when I purchased at 140k. Will the new suspension be a major difference in ride and performance? regardless I can't wait till get those parts, keep the opinions rolling thanks!

J.A.'s got a nice writeup on his site. After reading it I'm going with Bilstein HDs struts. And they fit fine and if you ever decuded to lift it, they will extend just fine as well. Also Tokicos are what come with stock runners usually so You might check them out.

Link to J.A.'s site : Higlander '99 Shocks

Just remember too pretty much any shock You buy compared to the stock shocks with over 100k will ride, handle better. Might seem rough or firm at first but that's a given. Wait until You put another 50k on them.

Good luck. Nice signature logo too btw.
