Navigation 'I Agree' bypass?

Does anyone know hot to modify the navigation system in my 2004 so that I don't have to hit 'I Agree' on the nav everytime I start the car? i like having the nav up while driving but that button is annoying to hit everytime. And yes, I know why it is there, it bugs me on my Hertz Neverlost rental cars too!

i believe it's 'hardwired' in the head unit and not in the dvd-rom so it would be fairly difficult to bypass without a firmware hack.

An alternative to hacking the executables (either on disk or firmware) might be to hack the touch screen interface. Using a cheap microcontroller you might be able to 'fake' the click on the screen. Most touch screen controllers use a serial interface.

Good luck and happy hacking.

I have a similar question along these lines: While I agree the disclaimer is irritating, what is more annoying is to have just about all of the functionality greyed out while the vehicle is moving. I've seen some touch screen hacks (i.e. hidden buttons that must be pressed in sequence to bring up the config screens), but these have been for the 05 and 06 versions of the system.

I have an '04 Limited with the factory NAV, and it seems to be a different system. This one is pre-voice command functionality...wish I'd waited another year...<<sigh>>.

Any help is appreciated.

Richard

What do you mean by "pre-voice command"??

You mean adding a mic to your 04 nav?

Check this out!

adding voice command:

always on nav mod:
http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showth...+always+on+mod

I'll be doing both these mods as well as the backup camera and Vais ipod interface mod when all the parts come in!

Try contacting coastaletech.com, I know they have a plug in device that removes the "I Agree" screen and allows full time nav for the Prius. They also have a plug in device for Bluetooth, but I think someone already asked them about it and it will only work with the Prius nav system.

I believe the consensus was that that solution for the "I Agree" screen only worked on navs that were the older split nav ecu systems (like was in the original 4th gen 4runner. these navs we're using these days are all one piece. I could be wrong, but, that's what my memory is telling me. feel free to search it out, tho. the details were either here or on siennaclub.org...
