No, I didn't do it on my 4Runner yet.... If I had access to the wiring schematics, I could tell you exactly how to do it.

I'll definitely post a short write-up when I finally get a chance to work on it...

2nd that! I would love to be able to run my fogs with just my parking lights. Just for the cool factor. Now I can run my Lightforce's with my parking light but can only do that in traffice if I have on the yellow covers. And I still get flashed some mornings.

If anyone gets it sorted let us know.

Does anyone know if there is a yellow bulb available for the so-called fog lights. Yellow cuts the fog unlike the white bulbs?

Yes, there are a few. Do a search for "yellow fog light" or something similar. There are multiple threads on this subject.

I'm investigating working on this mod to keep the fog light switch on the stalk functional. I need to get to connector C12 at the steering column. Besides obviously removing the lower bolts, how do you remove the drivers side lower dash panel? Does the top of it clip in and how do you get it away from the ignition key area without damaging it?

Another member posted this website, which should hopefully help. If you figure out how to get the fog lights on with only the parking lights, please set up a thread!

ksneubec,
Thanks for the link to Randos work.

I'll be working on trying to get the fog lights to work with the current stalk switch but regardless of any other lights on.

I have read the wiring schematic for the fog light circuit and the only way to make the foglights work independently of the headlights (and hibeams) with the factory switch is to ground the light blue wire in the combination switch. It is unclear on the schematic whether or not this is actually a wire or just a simple jumper. The connections are labeled 11 and 17 for each side of the light blue wire.

The only way to find out for sure is to remove the the combination switch (C12 - headlights, fog lights and dimmer) and check for the light blue wire. Unfortunately, I have not had time to remove mine to do this mod yet.

I'm hoping that when I get to C12 I will be able to take pin #11 to #16 (or any ground) and not #17. Also want to take the fog light relay pin #2 away from the headlight fuse and put it with any other circuit that is hot on ignition (I'm planning to use pin #2 on the unused power inverter circuit). I might have to also use a diode in this line if I can't isolate it. All this last stuff should be easy to do in the engine bay fuse box. Keep you posted.

16 is the ground wire for the combination switch. It goes to J15 (junction connector) and then directly to a chassis ground in the kick panel.

That will give you power to the fog light relay any time the ignition switch is on, but you'll still need to ground the combination switch in order for the original switch to control the foglights. If you end up pulling out the combination switch, snap a picture or two... I'd love to see what the wiring looks like.

Yes, it's a 2 part mod: switch grounding and power source. I have the wiring diagrams. Hopefully I can get to it on the w/e if I find time.

I need to get at connector C12 but was looking in the wrong location. It isn't under the lower dash but actually is on the steering column. Here's the catch: how do you get the steering column cover assembly apart? I took out the bottom screw and some of it clips apart but it won't come apart at the steering wheel end. Are there more screws hidden by the steering wheel?
