Are there more screws hidden by the steering wheel?
Yeah, if I'm not mistaken you'll find C12 at the combination switch, which means you'll probably have to take the switch out.... This would be so much easier if Toyota didn't put the fog light switch on the headlight stalk!!

This write up is for fog lights to work with high beams only... not indipendantly.

Three screws from the colum cover.

you only need to remove the bottom half nothing els.

Disconect conector C12

Thies are the two wires you need to jump. white/black is the grond and the light blue (there are two, the one in the corner)

I souldered a small wire.

Finished product...looks factory huh??

I wanted to do this before i went out tonight incase anyone wanted to do it this weekend. I will put up the indipendant part of fog light control later this weekend.

am i missing something? why go through all this to make the fog lights stay on with the high beams? I've already said you can ground one wire on the fog light relay and the fog lights will stay on with the high beams...took about 20 seconds to do. what does this mod do differently??

Am i completely missing it??

Please take no affence I am going to be very blunt. The way you had said makes the fog light switch inop (waisting a controling feture and creating a dead switch) and frankly is was not clean, looked micky mouse.

If you read the title of the thread, his solution answers that question 100%.

I still want to be able to control mine with the stock switch. If nobody does it before me, I will make mine be controlled to come on with the parking lights (if the switch is on) and stay on with the high beams. It sounds like "RXvedub" is planning on doing this, so I will wait to see what he comes up with before digging in.

no offense taken I wasnt trying to be rude....that is why i asked "am i completely missing it?"

i dont see any reason that I would ever want to turn them off...if my lights are on...high beam or low beam, I want my fog lights on....I wouldnt turn them off even if the switch did allow me too ;)

personal preference....good job on tracking down the wires tho

the title of the thread is "how to keep the fog lights on with high beams"....which BOTH solutions do...

sound like it does the exact same thing...fogs work with high beams...however RXvedub's reply clarified for me, as he says it will allow the stock fog switch to work....

btw, as far as the "mickey mouse" there are countless ways to make what I did look "clean"...I was just putting the information out there "ground this pin and the fogs stay on"...It was not intended to be a step by step "how-to"...I have wired mine so you can not even tell it is there....

I agree RXvedub's solution is more functional...but please take no offence I am going to be very blunt...it is simply not worth the time and dismantling for me...I am not 'bad mouthing' it...I'm just saying that its a little overkill for an advantage that I would never use (turning them off with the switch)

just MY personal view...i DO think it is an excellent mod if you want that control

The other reson i wanted the switch to work is because i also gave indipendant control of the fog lights too.

Write up here on indipendant control of fog lights.

This is exactly how I will be modifying mine to work...it's just that I haven't had the extra time to take it apart yet. But judging from the wiring diagrams, it seems easy enough...

RXvedub,
Thanks for the directions to get into the steering column cover. Did Part 1 of this mod by tapping together wires from pin #2 (GND) and #17 (switch gnd) at connector C12. Wrapped it up so its neat and clean.

Then in the engine bay fuse block. Did it slightly different than RXvedub. Removed the front fog relay. Carefully bent pin #2 sideways and connected a wire to it. Reinserted the relay and completed the connection (green wire) to pin #2 for the 115V outlet relay (mine is unused). Now I have fogs whenever I have ignition. I can run them with the DRL's for added visiblity.
