04 with FJ Springs and 5100s

I picked up some FJ springs and 5100s. I forgot to take measurements before starting but seems like most 4th gens are around 34.5" on avg with stock suspension. I have the 5100s set to 3rd groove which is 1.75". When I took a measurement the passenger fender is at like 38". That is with no spacers installed. That just seems too high to me. Anyone have any ideas ? I don't see how I messed anything up. Even if I went to the 2nd groove (.85") on the 5100s that would still put me just over 37" which is 2.5in. I was thinking I read if you wanted a 2.5" lift you would set your 5100s to the 3rd groove. I seem to have gotten like 3.5" I was told that the FJ springs have less then 100miles on them but I can't see that adding that much to the total lift until they "break in"...

Here are some pics...

Passenger side at 38"

What is the stock height of the 4th gens ?? I see people are getting about a 2in lift with the 5100s on FJ springs on a V8. If that is the case then I would have been around 33" before the new suspension. Also the .5" diff from the driver to pass is killing me. Is there anything I can do other then getting a spacer ??

Something is not adding up. I found a post from MSBX4RUNNER with the following details :

Quote:
2005 SportEdition
2wd
v8
FJ Coils off a 2007 FJ with 26K miles on them
Bilstein5100s set at 0.85"
Before measurements:
Front Driver 33 7/8" Front Passenger 33 3/4"
Rear Driver 35 1/4" Rear Passenger 35 7/8"
After measurements:
Front Driver 35 7/8" Front Passenger 35 7/8"
Rear Driver 36 3/8" Rear Passenger 37 1/8"
I ended up gaining a little over 2" in the front and 1.125-1.253" in the rear
I have a V8 and I have the 5100s set to the 3rd groove (1.75"). MSBX4RUNNER only has his set to the 2nd (.85") and I have less front lift then he got...

2WD gets much more lift in the front than the 4WD does, he also has a v6 as all v8's are 4wd

Also before anyone asks / points out. I know the springs are diff.

Quote:
It is important to note that there is a difference between the driver and passenger side front springs. The drivers side is about 1/4'' taller and a little stiffer to offset the additional weight of the driver and gas tank. The springs are color coded Yellow/Green on driver side and Gray/Green on the passenger side.

As you can see in the pic(s) above I have the Yellow/Green on the drive side...

v6 is lighter, the combo of the v6 and 2wd, they always gain the most lift

It's been pointed out the v6 is lighter than the v8, thus the FJ springs provide more lift on the v6 than they do on the v8 (about 1" vs. .5" with standard shocks). I believe the 5100's exaggerate this even more. A friend put 5100's and FJ springs on his v8 4x4, set on .85". He got just over 1.5" lift. It's hard to guess what you'll get, but the numbers posted don't make sense.

I know that a V6 will gain more lift then a V8. I was not aware that a AWD would gain less lift then a non AWD.

Even at that it seems like I only gained about ~1" with the 3rd groove (1.75") on the 5100s...

Damn I wish I would have taken measurements before I started

ARK_SWAMP_RIDER, would you be able to get a total measurement from your friend on where his front fenders sits ??

A 2wd is lighter in the front end, so the end result is greater. His 4runner sits at the exact same height as mine (I have 1.5" lift and slightly taller tires). My front measures ~36" fender to ground best I can remember. I can measure tomorrow for sure.

Next Thursday I'll have FJ springs from a 4wd installed along with FJ Tokico shocks - all parts are supposed to only have 50 miles on them, and they looked quite clean when they arrived. Bought off CL from a guy in CA who got tired of them lying around after a 6" lift in 07.

I'll take pics and measurements to let you know what I get as far as lift (even though I am not using 5100's). I have an 07 SR5 4wd V6 at 90k miles, without the xreas.

asnatlas, after a little eBay motors searching, I was wrong, not all V8s are 4wd.
