Clarion Head-units??

Just signed up for 4runner.org and I must say, this is awesome! Now to my question. Does anyone own the Clarion Cx501 2-din head-unit? If not, does anyone know much about Clarion head-units or have a different model?? I just ordered this 501 yesterday to replace my old JVC. Basically I just want some 4runner owners (that have a Clarion) to recommend bass settings on the EQ and tell me how they feel about Clarion.

Mine can adjust center freq to (50,100,150) with adjustable Q (0.75,1,1.5,2). Also the HPF can be (60,90,120) and same for the LPF. I'm thinking I would use 50, 1, 90 and 90 respectively.

Any thoughts/suggestions??

Welcome! Galactic 04 installed a Clarion not too long ago and had a post on it. It's in the 4th gen section I believe. Not sure if it was the same model, but it was similar if I'm not mistaking. You should be able to search his username and find the post.

Thanks swamp rider! I noticed in your sig that you have rerouted exhaust. What exactly is that? It's not dual exhaust is it? I only ask because I'd like to do something with my exhaust, but since I have a V6 I feel like duals would sound bad.

It's still the full stock system. I hated the look of the resonator and pipe coming strait out of the back (resonator is the "bubble", for lack of a better word, right where the tail pipe exits), so I had a shop cut it off and route the exhaust out the side. Added a nice little grumble at low rpms, not real noticeable higher up. Here's a thread showing pics of the exhaust. The mod is mostly for looks, wasn't expecting a sound change, and it doesn't add any power/torque like a full exhaust system would.

On a side note, I see you also have the ATM's? How do you like them? I love mine, but as I'm nearing 20k miles on them the noise seems to be picking up slightly. Not bad, but more noticeable than before (or maybe I'm just paying closer attention).

Thanks for the tip! Yes, I like them a lot. But I just got them in January so I haven't noticed anything too loud. That could be because I listen to my music pretty loud all the time though. I can take corners now like never before with these tires! I bought them for times when its icy on the roads and they helped out tremendously, like night and day compared to the stock Dunlaps.
