Does it give you audio commands without the use of another speaker? I am very interested in this unit as the Toyota Navs are out of stock at oemvalue.com. Let me know....

Yeah, it does. It mutes the left front speaker and speaks the voice commands out of that speaker. The volume for the voice is adjustable.

AVN5435
With the Eclipse navigation system is it possible to still have the center center working? As the sound is noticablely better when I use the center speaker on my current factory JBL system. I'm a newbie and read through several post and realized that it's a pain to upgrade the system, but the system looks worth the hassle. Also, do you recommend adding an amp to the system? Currently, I have a JL Audio sub hooked up to the factory unit as the factory unit was lacking bass.
Thanks!

No, the eclipse unit is just like any other aftermarket head unit (it doesn't have surround sound like the factory JBL). I'm sure you can somehow patch into the left or right channel of the normal speaker output and send it through the center channel, but I doubt it will sound very good.
Yeah, I'd recommend getting an external amp for the front/rear/sub speakers. That's what I have hooked up right now. I had to do that because I had the JBL system (couldn't use the factory wire harness and had to re-wire all the door speakers). I figured since I had to re-wire everything anyway, I'd get separate amps so I wouldn't be powering everything off the head unit. If you don't have the JBL though, it would be a lot easier to patch into the factory wiring harness and run your speakers off the head unit itself.

DUDE! That's hard to believe. Can anybody confirm this? I'm not talking about seeing it in another post or board.
Can anybody who works at or has a buddy at a car audio shop confirm this? It just doesn't make sense.

I thought it was hard to believe too so I called Eclipse and they confirmed that only the 5435 has the Sirius not the 5495...

davisc23,
I just ordered the 5435 so if you don't mind I have a couple questions.
1. Does the Sirius sound good? After reading your post I may just upgrade to the 5495.
2. Does your unit have LPF/HPF settings?

1. The Sirius does sound good, not great, but good enough for me. It's not CD quality, but it sounds better than the XM MyFi I had hooked up to the line-in previously.
2. No, it doesn't have any filter settings at all. I kind of miss that from my old alpine, but my amps have filters built in so I just use those. Another little quirk is that the EQ settings aren't saved per source (FM and Sirius can sound very different). There are 5 customizable EQ presets, so you can switch back and forth between them when you switch sources. Even without those tweakable settings, I think the overall sound quality is better than my old alpine 9813.

I'm coming from the Kenwood Excelon KVT-915DVD so I'm a little skeptical on the SQ of the Eclipse compared to the Kenwood.. The 915 is supposed to be the most advanced audio/video deck on the planet. However I love Eclipse products and pretty much own Eclipse products. I called my dealer and asked them to order the AVN5495 instead and had them throw in a external Sirius tuner.

Does the 5435 have any bezel at all with it? Some kind of ring that snaps on after you get the dash back together?
