In the true off road spirit I only wish Toyota would build the FJ with solid coil axles and not IFS. Not that there is nothing wrong with IFS but locked and loaded Axles and more articulation would go along nicely with the rugged interior and character that the FJ is known for instead of comfort. But to keep costs down I can see why they would resort to a taco baseline.

I hope that it will come with optional rear locker, like in Tacoma. It will be a nice alternative to the Hummer H3 that is coming out and the Wrangler Rubicon.

Just that some "re-introductions" of vehicles are getting big changes while still having some retro-appeal... If Toyota marketing thinks they can sell twice as many with 4-doors, I bet it will have 4-doors...

There is something integral about the two doors on this truck. With 4 doors it wouldn't be what it is supposed to be. Toyota already has a large truck line with all of them having 4 doors (even the ones with 2 have the option to get 4 ie. pickups)

This is an expansion of their already large truck line so it can easily be a niche vehicle.

Honestly, and I will stick my foot in my mouth if it isn't, this will be a 2 door truck (obviosly not counting suicide doors as an extra set)

market

Th FJ will most likely be the competitor for the Nissan Xterra. Without all the Luxury stuff I highly doubt it would compete with the Hummer as Hummer owners usually are drawn to the LUX plus offroad capability. The LX and GX probably has that covered with the 4R competing with the Pathfinder.

Money wise I hope it is the Xterra so costs should be below the 4R. Here's keeping the fingers crossed.

I just found this small flash presentation on the FJ on the Toyota site:

http://www.toyota.com/html/shop/look...r/cruiser.html

It is about the old concept and not what I believe they are going to show in Chicago next month, but still interesting...

I met a Toyota representative while out on the town this weekend. His job is in the marketing for the Scion brand. I asked him about the new FJ and he says it looks pretty cool and should be shipping in Sept/Oct of this year. There was some earlier discussion to bring it out under the Scion name (scary) but obviously didn't pan out. He also said there is discussion on a full 4-door version.

In non-FJ comments, he said that now that the Tacoma is 'all-grown-up' Toyota no longer has a small truck, so a new one will be coming out and that one will most likely be under the Scion name. It may only be 2x4, however...

Interesting who you can beet on the town! Disclaimer: While I think this guy is reliable (friend of a friend) there was alcohol involved!

It won't compete with the Hummer because its nearly half the size (and if anyone says, 'wat bout the H3', its still gonna be rather small compared to that.) The H3 is gonna be 4runner size I hear, a full sized not gay huge size H2. Its gonna be what the rappers drive when they don't need the offroad capabilities of the H2. :jester::jester::jester::jester::jester:

For those who might not have seen or been around older FJ 40s, this is gonna be a beefed up RAV4 sizewise, well, a little bigger, and pricewise its gonna be similar to that as well, much less than the t4r. Its going to be realistic to the size of the real FJ 40s.
