FJ Cruiser!
I saw one of the new FJ Cruisers today on the road. Those are pretty cool! I didn't realize they were available for purchase. Sweet looking ride!

stopped by Toyo dealer to have the oil & filter changed. while waiting, i strolled into the show room to check out FJ Cruiser if they had one on display. they didn't have any. when i asked one sales guy, he tersely replied, "put a deposit on it and we MAY be able to order one for ya"
so i suppose it sells good...
and they had a bunch of T-shirts and Jackets with "FJ Cruiser" printed on them. So even T-shirts sells good?

i saw a blue one a few days ago. I thought it was a Hummer because the spare tire case said something on it, but then I noticed it didnt say H3 or anything, then I was able to make out the FJ. How good are those offroad?

Very good and they have a rear diff lock and come with a manual tranny if you choose. There's a few threads over on yotatech with pics of it doing some solid off roading.

My dream FJC:
1. KDSS from Lexus GX470 = increase wheel articulation to better match with the upcoming Jeep Rubicon
2. ATRAC + E-locker combo = make it possible to use both at the same time! Right now, if you lock the rear axle, ATRAC shuts off completely. Therefore, your front axle is completely open, which is unfortunate because the IFS does not have good wheel travel to begin with.
3. 4:1 transfer case = again this will put it more competitive with upcoming Jeep Rubicon and Hummer H3.
That would be a great FJC IMHO.

I had my 4Runner in for service today and noticed an FJ in their lot. I glanced at the sticker and was shocked. At 31K+ it is about exactly the same price as a similarly equipped 4Runner SR5 V6. I was not impressed and don't understand the popularity, if there is one, to buy this overpriced 4X4. It is unusual looking, my wife liked it and thought it was "cute". To top it off, it had an automatic tranny with a part time 4WD. Isn't that a step backward???? I heard the 6 speed manual tranny has a full time system. They took the V6 engine from the 4Runner, why didn't take the drive train too?? There's supposed to be a waiting list, I guess these are the "first adopters". Time well tell if it's really a popular vehicle. At and EPA of 17-21mpg its not any better than the V6 4Runner. I'd choose the 4Runner.

And buyers are paying that full sticker too, not the approx 10% off deal you'd get on a 4Runner.

It's closer to 15% now. That same dealer is selling an equipped V6 4WD 4Runner for 27K. I'd be willing to bet that the off road driving for many of the FJ buyers will consist of nothing more than a trip to the A&P parking lot.

That's the untold story of the FJ situation, imo. Makes the 4Runner look like an absolute steal.

Agree 110%. FJC is way overpriced at this time.

I already test drove one a month ago! Since then, I have seen two on the road. I agree that the FJ is overpriced. In addition, the dealers around here will not budge on them!

Give 'em a few months and especially when the new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon comes out.
