$5K+ MSRP

ThatsRicci,

What was the dealer selling them for?

Two weeks ago the dealer wanted 5K on top of MSRP from the one I visited. I contacted a fellow friend who owns a fleet company. He freaked out when the dealers he deals with were asking 5K up to 14K! on top of MSRP. The dealer showed him one invoice that was sold for $41K out the door.

If it was on the lot it's 5k over sticker. If you ordered it, there was no markup. However the one i test drove wasn't made available to me anyway because the dealer was gonna throw 8g worth of upgrades on it... leather, good stereo, maybe a sunroof too.

regardless.. i would have done all those mods myself, and ended up paying the same amount as the 4runner with everything already on it. so i even felt more logical

Some dealers are now willing to sell FJC under MSRP...apparently, supply has caught up with demand.

The FJC's kick arse wheeling. I was out with a group of five or six all day yesterday and they handled double diamond trails in stock form with minimal effort.

Really a 2 seater tho. Styling is definitely an issue. To me they look like a Lego brick.

The V6 in the RAV is very refined. More cylinders does not automatically equate to being more refined. (But of course, it depends on your personal definition of "refined".)

Cylinders has nothing to do with refinement...I think we all get that. I don't believe I said anything about that. What I am actually referring to is the 4.7L Toyota builds is particularly refined. In other words a very smooth powerplant and very quiet as well. Compare it to the 4.0 Toyota builds which is not as smooth when operating and definitely not as quiet.

thai,

I have seen your posts in other forums where you stated the same thing in the past. I am sure there are but around here they are still selling at above MSRP. Last week was the last time I checked. It all depends on the region I suppose.
It will probably drop a few months from now around the country.

The FJ was designed to compete in the Xterra/Heep market. What better way for Toyota to do this then to use what works well; the 4Runner. They took its running gear and incorporated into it an approved retro design. They also kept the price down by the KISS principle. They again created a winning design. It IS already the class leading design for young off-roaders. The FJ is like most other new Toyota designs, time will make it a vehicle of choice.

I have a need to get into the inner workings of everything mechanical and this has driven me into doing a lot research on motor oil. I think there is no better place the BITOG web site. http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi There is a world of knowledge in the members that post there. The reason I bring this up is because it is commonly known there that the Toyota 4.7 is probably the best V8 on the planet as far as overall quality.

You just need to call around...and you may have to go to another state, but you can find a good deal.

Thanks for the reference Koz! I will definitely check the site out. I am huge into research as well. I am also a big advocate of synthetic lubricants and extended drain intervals. I completely agree with you on the 4.7. One of the best 8 cylinders on the market or ever on the market...period. We have had many different applications with this powerplant whether it be a 4Runner, Tundra, Cruiser or the GX. It has never has let us down and is always ready to go. If the new 5.7 Toyota is building is even 75% as good I will be a happy camper.

It would be a cold day in hell before I ever paid sticker , much less dealer mark up.

Around here I have not seen any add'l mark up posted on the vehicle's but I'm sure they are not dealing either since there so few around here.

Maybe if they come out with a more refined, sporty model it will look a little better to me. I have no doubt's about it's capability's though. It's a Toyota 4x4 for gods sake.....

Toyota is suppose to offer a special edition model but no one knows what will be so special. Some suspect the KDSS option or probably some bling and carpet.
