The FJ are very well built Jeep alternative and I think that definitely excites alot of people. Most have better offroad capabilities than stock 4th gen 4 runners, they are very group oriented vehicles (jeep and fj owners love hanging out) and they look fabulous when built right. I've often thought of getting rid of 1 of our 4 runners and going FJ for awhile. My son's 4th gen would be the perfect swap vehicle if I find a reasonable priced and equipped FJ.
Since it was discontinued it has become a sellers market. I've seen mint examples go for way more than they should.
As a seller, I would know to not to fire-sale it out of desperation. I would hold out for the right buyer at the right price. Time is on your side, and the lack of availability is only helping.
As a buyer, I would just won't buy one at a premium. I just don't love it THAT much. The 4Runner and GX470 are widely available and pretty much gets you all the way there.
Kinda funny story real quick. I bought my FJ with 175k on it for $8k in early 2018. I drove it for a few years and loved it.. decided to go with a 4Runner and sold it last month for $9400 with 194k on it. The blue book value went up nearly 20%.. I couldn't believe it until I started getting calls at that price!
