Maintenance Day BBQ
Ladies and Gents!
I am thinking about doing a maintenance/mod day BBQ hosted at my house before our next offroad trip. It would allow some of the guys/gals who wanna come over to get a couple more things done on their rigs before beating on them next time we go out. The nice thing is we would all be able to help each other get the jobs done and done quickly also with the combined knowledge of all of us, and the from, I am sure we can figure out!
Where:
My house in Plant City. I am about 2 miles off I4 exit between exit 19 and 17. There is a Toyota Dealership about 15 minutes away if need and 6 autopart stores ( Autozone x2, Advanced Auto x2, Napa, O'reilly's) within a 5 mile radius of my house. I have a two car garage with a good amount of lighting, a decent selection of tools. a utility sink with some Lava soap and plenty of room for people to park ( it is a corner lot).
Dates:
I am not 100% sure yet, throw out some ideas. Saturdays for this kind of deal are probably preferable as if something ends up taking longer or we run into issues ( hopefully not ) we would be able to have another day to get er' done!
Food
I would be able to provide some burgers, buns, toppings, and maybe a couple simple sides. Oh and a big ol' cooler for the beer! Maybe bring another meat, or another side if ya want and we can cook it up over the charcoal!
Tagging for interest?
Even if you don't have anything you need done but want to hang out and lend a hand that would be great too!

What a fun idea! If I'm available to make the date, I wouldn't mind bringing along some additional tools and beverages of choice. You have a welder or a nema 6-50 250v outlet/receptacle?

I do not have a welder, a cut off wheel, or a torch for preheats. Maybe one Day. I think my dryer runs on 50amp breaker but has a 220v receptical. Do you have a conversion cable? Also maybe an extension cable for it?
Also my workbench, which is wooden and not good for welding on , does not have a vice, yet, I might try a little harder to find one before the meet up. I wanted to find an old machinist vice to mount on it.

So, I have the approval from the Boss lady. We just need a date. I can tell you that April 24th is not a good date.
...image for attention lol

I'm in, I've got plenty of tools I can bring. I'm up for anything except using those shitty spring compressors, lol

Conversion cable, yes; extension cable, not so much. With the conversion cable the welder has a total reach of approximately 15'-16' from plug to welding tip. Not sure if that'll get you far enough into the garage to work on a vehicle/project.
I guess we should also find out if we have the right tools for the job before bringing a project over.
More tool questions:
-Do you have an air compressor or air tools?
-You or anyone else have a pair of 6-ton jack stands for anyone looking to get their rig up in the air?
-Anyone thinking about doing their timing belt (at least on a 5vze, 3rd gen v6) which may require a special tool?
-Spring compressors?

16' should get you to the front / middle of a vehicle. I will measure tonight. We might also have an 220 extension cord here at work I could borrow too.
Air is a no, but i do have a cordless impact rated at 110 foot pounds torque,18" breaker bar and a 25" breaker bar. I haven't found something i could not get off with them or break, lol.
I do not have 6-ton stands, I have 2-ton x 4, a 2-ton floor jack that does 2 5/8" - 24".
Spring compressor is a no, but i am sure we can borrow one from an auto part store if need be using "loan a tool".

I'm in. I' think anything in May and beyond would be best for me. I'm kinda low on money so I don't know if I would be doing any mods but I would enjoy to meet everyone and help if I'm able to.
I kinda want to do a satoshi grill mod I just need the supplies to make it 😀

Satoshi grill mod can be done for $15 if you just use gutter covering material from Lowes or Home Depot. And then get a can of paint or plasti dip.

@ 96BladeRunner
if this will work. I will buy some and we can both do it at the same time. I just wanna find an FJ40 Toyota logo to put in the middle of mine.
Guter Guard
I also could use to put this on some of my gutters in the front of the house! lol
I will check the inner grill dimensions it is 5.5" or less i bet it would work like Matt said.

I'd love to throw a FJ badge on mine but all the ones I can find are like $60

Keep me Updated to
@ SRQ-Runner
since I live right next to Clearwater and it would be easy for me to get them I want the silver ones though. I also kind of want to buy another grill so if I screw up I have a spare.
Do they have a silver or light grey plasti dip. I kinda want to do my emblems like that.
I have also kind of wanted to paint my skid plate silver but I'm still unsure if I will do it.
