Welcome to the Swamp! I’m in Pembroke Pines about 15-20 minutes west of Ft. Lauderdale. I am not a mud fan either, unfortunately there is not a lot of wheeling in this area, especially the non-mud kind. There are some cool places to explore in Big Cypress National Forest but it is not what I would consider “wheeling” just dirt road driving. Lazy Springs recreational park outside of Naples has off-roading, which is probably your best bet down here. A lot of people off-road up in Ocala and they have an off-road area near there called Hard Rock off road park (About 3.5 hours away). Also up north is Citrus Wildlife management area, which has some off-roading. Depending on where you are from, you’ll find the off-roading down here to be non-technical to say the least and mostly just places to get muddy and dirty (not my cup of tea). I’m from Maryland and just moved here a couple of years ago from the San Francisco Bay Area, so this is a way different experience when it relates to the Outdoors.
If you’re on Facebook there are a bunch of Florida off road groups...PM me and I’ll send you info on some of the better ones. If you’re into camping my family and I try to get out as much as we can.
Sorry for the not so fun news but this area does make you want to plan more extensive trips up to the mountains of North Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina where there is lots of off-road terrain to explore.

I have a 1998 4runner v6 4x4. On 33s installing front and rear lockers next week. Wife has a 2019 4x4 with coilovers and some other goodies. Looking for a few people to arrange a ride with. Either croom or hardrock in the next month or so.

Croom is basically just dirt roads... not much there... There is plenty of wildlife, but not much more that sandy or muddy trails. There's a big clay pit, but it's closed and usually full of buried Jeeps...
Citrus has one or two areas that can be fun, but again, it's essentially sandy or muddy trails depending on weather.
I have no experience at Hard Rock Off Road Park... just hearing of it today.
Welcome to the state of eternal summer, and two months of spring-fall (we have no winter).
Jason

Agreed with Jason on that one.
I’ll be doing the trails at Chassahowitzka tomorrow and then camping there by the river as well if anyone wants to join. Last second I know.
Trails aren’t technical, more wildlife / scenic. Though we’ll see how much water there is due to all this rain lately (in Tampa Bay Area). Chass is just west of Citrus & Croom.

Well, figure I'd introduce myself, just moved (back) down to Florida. Spent my entire life in FL then moved to the MD/VA area for the last 6 years. The 4R was stock when it left and it seems to have grown up over those 6 years too lol. While the trails are better up there, that was the first time I'd ever lived more than 15 minutes from the beach. I'd trade trails for beach any day of the week. Living in Tampa now, looking into what's down here trail-wise.
On a related note - also in the lookout for a local mechanic who knows their way around a lifted 4R.

PM me your #. I have a good mechanic in Zephyrhills. A bit of a hike but well worth it, he’s trustworthy.

Longtime lurker. First time buyer. Just picked up a 2019 ORP w/KDSS last Wednesday and found this thread. I'm located over in Daytona Beach. Wife and I are pretty outdoorsy, love camping, hiking, etc. but because of our lines of work (she's a professor and I work for a large sports organization) it kind of cuts down on who we can hang out with around here. Wouldn't mind meeting up with some new folks for some light trail rides. Not sure I'm ready to scratch her up just yet. The truck, not the wife.
