Looks like just glued in. When I close the key it pushes on the transponder a little bit. Probably going to have to keep an eye on it.

First, it was packaged very well and had the instructions so I can program it because my limited model needs a transponder. When the key is in the open position its a little lose but nothing to be worried about. Also the button to open and close it gets stuck every once and awhile, again no biggie, I've been playing with it all weekend and its only gotten stuck a couple times. The transponder for my key is very nicely tucked away behind the key. I will probably run another layer of glue over it just to be extra safe. The key is only slightly heavier then a regular key and feels very sturdy. I'm trying to figure out how, if possible I'm going to attach this to my keys. Might take it apart and drill a small hole in the top of the handle to put my key ring through. Also the clip on the back is a little loose, its scratching the paint under it, because mine is silver it won't really be an issue but might be for the other colors. This by far is the coolest key I've owned and I will defiantly be ordering a couple more for my other toys. Here are some pics. last pic shows the scratches.
Awesome you finally got it! Damn USPS was taking forever! But thanks for the review. Now i know what to adjust! the main problem we have had was the key is a little different width so it has to be a LITTLE loose, or it wont open correctly. If it ever gets too lose, tighten the allen key just a little and it'll fix itself. And thats a great idea finding a way to attach it to a keyring. Bummer about the clip though. maybe a small washed between there would fix it?

And if you run glue over it, i recommend a type of silicone, something thats not harsh. I used marine grade silicone for all of ours, and it seemed to work well. Thanks though! If you have any more questions Email/text/PM me, and ill be more then happy to help!

DARN. It was glued in, but with silicone. It was a tight fit to begin with. I was worried it sat too low, i but i wanted it flush with the top also. If you ever have problems with it, send it back to us and we'll fix it free of charge.

UPDATE. Sorry everyone, this weekend i worked 2, 12 hour shifts. 10am-11pm with an hour break, so i didn't have time to work on Key-knife. I have tomorrow off however, so it's to the workbench for me! I'm hoping to get at least 3-4 more done then! We have a lot of blue handles though. Sure no one wants one? They look awesome.

Hey everyone, first of all sorry I've taken so long to update. My computers messed upand I have to do everything from my iPod. Were in various forms of production for the key knife. Some are shipped some are beig made and some are waiting for me to have a day off to ship out. If you sent in a ky then yours is made. If you have a transponder key, tuscon and myself are trying to work out a kink in them to make sure they will program. Hopefully we'll fix the problem quickly so I can finish them up! ThAnks for bearing with us. Ifhis works out I'll remember my beta testers and send out some free stuff.. Down th road
If you have questions please email me rather then pm, because it's easier to reply that way. Thanks again!

Why not just post the update here? Obviously something is going on and its only fair to be transparent to everyone

The only reason i said to email or text, is because i don't have my computer. But i will post through my ipod.

What's happening is the transponder won't reprogram. We're not sure if it was a bad batch, the incorrect batch, or they weren't OEM. What we did was order new transponders and wer're waiting from them to come in (they ship from China).

What Forrest and myself have decided to do, is we are prepared to refund anyone who doesn't want to wait for them to come in and get them to work.
This way we don't have your money. Then once we have everything worked our correctly we can try again. Or we can continue to wait. Right now i have one that is being sent directly to Tuscon4runner for him to try out. As soon as he gets it and let's me know if it works or not, thats when we will ship out.
We do apolagize, but this is the first time we've tried this and we only had one tested for a non-chipped 4runner, and then one for a 2004 4runner.

As you said we should be transparent, and thats why i'm offering a refund to everyone who doesn't wish to wait. Just send a payment request and within 3 days, it will be paid back. But we are dilligently working on getting this to work! We want these Key-Knives to work out just as much as you do.

I have no problem with the wait/giving him a break, I just wanted an update on the product. Especially since everything seemed to be plugging along (based on the OP's posts) and then no updates for a week.
When I asked if there was an update, we get a cryptic "Yea but none good. I'd like everyone to either text or EMAIL me. Email is keyknife@aol.com
Phone is 352.304.3438"

Don't get me wrong, I really want this to work because I like the idea so much that so that I sent full payment when he said they were pumping them out and that some have shipped already because I have faith that they want this to work and are working hard to make it happen. I just think that since we are part of the beta group, why not keep us in the loop.

Your correct thats our fault. We did pump them out. The key-knife part at least. Whats holding us up is the transponders. Once we can figure out this problem, then we are good to go!

In the future i'll definitely post something every day or two, to make sure you know exactly whats going on!

New Blank Transponders are on their way. Pretty much twiddling thumbs until they get here. If you DONT have a transponder then expect you key-knife by friday. Thanks!
