B.A.M.F Rear Diff skid plate Group Buy #1 10/01/2011 to 10/15/2011

I'm posting this for a friend of mine who makes offroad products for a great price
BAMF have a brand new rear diff skid for Tacoma trucks 8.4" & 8.0" rear diff (Still checking on Pre Tacoma's and other Toyota trucks & SUV's)

Pricing + Shipping & tax to all CA orders

The pricing is set for hand Plasma cut steel NOT CNC cut we are cutting out the middle man on this GB to save you money (Example of the cuts at the bottom of the post)
1 to 5 orders 275.00
6 to 10 orders 260.00
11 to 15 orders 250.00
16 to 19 orders 235.00
20+ orders 225.00
40+orders 225.00 + 10.00 Shipping to anywhere in the lower 48

The List* is confirmed for the GB. The GB will open on 10/01/2011 and run for two weeks once all are listed I will send payment info and the skids will be built. Skids will be shipped as numbered on the list 5 at a time so the wait time can be up to a month for the guys at the bottom of the list depending on the amount of orders there is.

Specs

1/4" plate steel CNC cut formed on a press brake and fully welded. The design I'm working on will allow me to only have 4 weld joints on the whole skid (not including the mounts) all the rest will be bent steel plate for Optimal strength. The design also has Pinion protection
(NOTE) if you have axle wrap I don't recommend pinion protection because it will contact your drive line when your axle wraps.

I built the prototype shell today and let me say it came out awesome. Here are a few shots of the skid without the mounting hardware the mounts are going to be U-bolts on the axle and 3/4"DOM tubing with welded a nut to thread a top plate on I should have the top plate done tomorrow.

All Tacked up

Fully welded

BAMF is located in east bay California local pick up welcome

The product looks really nice, but how is that pinion guard not going to puncture the gas tank when the suspension flexes? That could be a potentially deadly mod I'm thinking. The Tacomas don't have the gas tank right there so the pinion guards aren't an issue for them like they are on 3rd gen 4runners.

the only way to tell is to flex the truck out and see how close it is and shave down whats necessary

you won't be able to shave enough with that design (or with any pinion guard). With no sway bar and extended shocks (like most off road 4runner would have), I'm sure it will hit the gas tank skid bad and possibly the tank itself. Most people rub the pinion flange on the gas tank skid already and have to bang it out of the way a little. I have so much flex, I had to actually bang the tank itself in a little bit and I just have a normal DS. Your pinion guard design is way too big for a 4runner unless you do it with a F-150 gas tank swap mounted in the factory spare location.

Please don't take this the wrong way, I think the product looks awesome! And I'm sure it will work great for a Tacoma. I would just sell the 4runner version without the pinion guard to avoid issues.

No problem, good luck with the skids! I would consider buying one, but I already modified and welded on a cheap Trail Gear diff "mohawk" style skid on mine.
