FS:3rd gen - Front & Rear Diffs - 4.88s & ARB Air Lockers - Charlotte, NC
SOLD !!!!!
SOLD !!!!!
SOLD !!!!!
For Sale: Fully assembled 3rd gen front and rear diffs (V6 Limited).
4.88 gears with ARB Air Lockers. These diffs were set up and installed by East Coast Gear Supply. They were purchased/installed in June of 2012. I have the estimate and invoice from install, which I'm happy to share with any serious inquirers. I parted and sold my 4Runner (which these are from) due solely to buying a locked FZJ80 to fit my ever-growing family.
In addition, I have the ARB High Output Compressor and all wiring / switches / airlines that go with it. I also have the custom-fabbed bracket for compressor install in 3rd gens with cruise control.
Its essentially a full plug & play set-up for a 3rd gen.
I am wiling to sell the compressor/wiring harness separate from the diffs, but only if the compressor sells first.
Diffs - $2,300
Compressor/harness - $230
EDIT 5/6/14 - PRICE DROP
DIFFS - $2,150
COMPRESSOR/HARNESS - $200
Edit 7/22/14:
NEW PRICE: $2,350 SHIPPED for everything
Lower 48, of course
If you're local I can back out the shipping to give you a reduced price for pick up.
I'm in Charlotte, but I make it to Boone/Blowing Rock regularly. I can also arrange delivery to Raleigh on a spotty basis.
Please PM me with any questions.

I was running 255/85/16s which, if I'm not mistaken, calculates out to a 33.
As for mileage, I want to say that they have about 20k miles on them, but I'm not 100% sure. I know it would be in that general range. I'm going to take a look at my yearly NC inspection reports tonight and see if I can land on a firmer mileage number...

I'm willing to split if it helps me sell 'em. I'm a little hesitant on the shipping aspect, however. Obviously these things are a bit heavy and clunky. Any suggestions from you folks far away from me on what method would be best????

Thanks for the reply. I'm local and will think about taking this off of your hands. If you get a buyer please don't wait on me.

I shipped my rear 3rd to a buyer in TX who had a Fed Ex business account. He just sent me a shipping label and I boxed it and dropped it off and he took care of the shipping. Might not be an option for everyone, but that's what worked with mine. Also, I've heard that you can use Fastenal for large shipping needs and they have really good rates. I've not done it personally, but it may be worth looking into. I know I will, should the need arise. Hope that helps. GLWS.

The rear 3rd shipping method I am familiar with is a 5 gallon HD/Lowes bucket with plenty of suitable padding--rags, expandable foam (use a trash bag on the 3rd) or cardboard. Just make sure nothing is moving once you are done, and be careful with the air line in the diff.
The front diff is a different beast, it might be easier to further disassemble before shipping--take off mounts and ADD housing. The new owner may not need either of those and will make it easier to ship.

The clam shell is not compatible with a 4th gen (7.5" v. 8"). But the rear third should be (let me know if I am wrong), you might need to change the flange to a bigger bolt pattern for the 4th gen. Changing the flange should be easy if it has a solid spacer since you don't have to mess with the preload on the pinion.
Did you get the solid spacer option from ECGS?
