FS: custom built 3rd gen roof rack, $1000 OBO, Orange County, CA

Hey everyone. I'm selling my custom built roof rack.

Let me start by saying it's probably the beefiest roof rack this side of the Mississippi. I put alot of blood, sweat, tears, and sleepless nights into building it. The outer frame is .120 wall 1.5" round tubing and the cross bars are .065 wall 1.25" tubing. It has tie down rails on either side that were plasma cut from 3/8" steel plate. The front and rear tie down cleats are 1/4'" tabs with solid 1/2" steel rod through them. Honestly, your roof will cave in before anything happens to this rack (which may or may not be a good thing ). I've even driven over it to test it's strength before I painted it and absolutely nothing happened. It has ten 1/4" steel mounting tabs that bolt into the stock roof rails with threaded nut plates I made from 1/4" steel. I like to overbuild things to say the least. The rack weighs about 50 pounds but I haven't noticed any adverse effect to my fuel mileage. The best part is it comes with 4 pre-wired 6" LED bars, two on either side. The wires run through the rack and out one hole in the back. These lights are BRIGHT. I usually park sideways next to our campsite whenever we go out to the desert and they light the whole area up. There's also a rear light wired into the mix that I've attached to my rear "spoiler". I'll throw that in along with the shovel and axe carrier (shovel and axe not included).

The possibilities for this rack are endless. It's basically a flat bed for your roof!

Asking price is $1000 OBO. I know that sounds like alot but if you think about it, people pay $1600 for a Gobi rack and this rack has a larger expanded steel surface, more tie down points and a higher weight rating. And to answer the golden question, I'm selling because I'm building a bigger one

The rack itself is essentially in perfect condition, however, the paint job is a little rough in certain spots, but I'd be happy to throw another coat on for anyone interested. I have rattle canned it for a couple of reasons:
1 if it gets scratched, just shoot it with more paint
2 powder-coating is expensive
3 if you want to modify it in any way or weld something onto it, you don't have to ruin a $300 powder coat job

I work in Aliso Viejo and live in Buena Park, but I would be more than happy do deliver it anywhere within a 30 mile radius of Buena Park. Local pickup preferred. I'd rather not look into shipping it just yet, unleeesss the price is right.

Thanks for looking!

They're 6 inch Blitzpro light bars. Great lights, but unfortunately no longer made. Bright as hell though. I'll try to get some night pictures tonight.
