I have to agree- I think there's several of us who've been long time forum members and it's pretty frustrating to see this trash starting to pop up on here.

Moderators??

I've thought about making this same post several times myself. I'm a new guy so I just kept quiet.

I see the posts show up at early hours in the morning. Super annoying when I'm lurking for the item's I am after haha. Just need to nominate someone the power for the classifieds section only, to delete posts that don't meet the rules.

The main defense against the spammers is the "15 minimum posts to start a thread rule"..... Catching the spammers after they start posting is a huge amount of work for the mods since they have to find/delete all the posts as well as permanently ban the poster.... To make it worst the spammers put up a barrage of posts at times when the mods are not as active (weekends, off hours, holidays etc).... The "15 posts" rule was backed off in some subforums because some forum members whined that it was a tremendous imposition to get 15 posts under their belt before starting a thread.....

It's as easy as "reporting" the thread to get it flagged and removed. Moderators aren't going to be reading all day every day in every sub-forum.

Open the spam thread, click the "report" button, report it spam, forget about it. It never takes more than a few hours for it to get removed and the spammer permanently blocked.

They need to assign certain long term members a new title that will allow them to each monitor their own specific sub forum and delete/ban the spammers from the site. It's not complicated, they're probably just worried about giving any power to a larger number of people.

All great points, gentlemen (and ladies- ??)! I've been flagging down a few as I come across them, and from just that, would have to agree that it would be an extremely tedious process for our moderators to constantly monitor that type of activity. But I truly think we have some great ideas going here.

1) Perhaps our awesome mods can "deputize" several members, either based on tenure as forum members, or based off post count. Either way, it would be a great idea to start delegating some of the work, and I think many of us who are obviously TRUE enthusiasts of our T4R's (and Toyota in general) would gladly accept the responsibility.

2) We can all contribute efforts in flagging down the posts as they become available. It takes but just a few seconds to do so.

Now if we could only hunt those spammer SOB's down, it would be so much easier for all. LOL. Have a great day, all....

I agree, i send several spam alerts almost every day, and it does not take long for them to be removed. It is a little irritating, but hey i don't have a life anyway so why not.
