Keys and Fob remotes

Iv sold a few on Tacoma world but thought 4runner guys might need some to. this is what I have left.
I have 5 remotes left 2 of the older style. The fcc id matches for Solara, Camry, and Sienna. May work on others but not sure. Also have 3 newer 1 piece keys. They do not have fcc id numbers but 1 has a G on the key and 2 have just dots. $30 each shipped

I waited for a response to my PM, but since i received none I guess I'll take this public.

I bought the fob-head "G" key mentioned in this ad. Nowhere did it state in the ad or in my communications with the seller that the key was cut. I guess I should have asked, but why would anyone want to buy a cut key? Seems a little dishonest to omit something like that.

Not terribly happy, glad I'm only out $30 on the deal and I guess I'll use the guts if I ever need to repair a fob.

I'm not the seller, but it's obvious looking at the pics they the keys are cut, and the fobs all appear used. I'm not sure what you were expecting.

Check your pm. The pictures shows exactly what I'm selling. Looking at the pictures and the price I'm asking I'm not sure how you thought they are new. I'm not trying to rip anyone off.

Your pictures are all broken links and I haven't gotten a PM from you (see screenshots below).

In terms of the price, I've bought uncut fob heads for $40 brand new from a business on eBay, so $30 for a spare from a private party didn't seem all that far off. Regardless, how difficult would it be to say in the ad that the key blades are cut? It's always best when selling over the web to be as explicit as possible so everyone knows what they're getting. Maybe I should have asked (and that's why I'm not going through PayPal to get my money back) but on the other hand it should have been mentioned in the ad (whether they're cut or not makes a HUGE difference as to their intended use).

Not saying you were trying to rip me off. It appears we both fell victim to a technical glitch, but it would have been nice to get a timely response to my PM when I sent it last week.

Like I showed above, I see the images as broken links (not sure why, it's like this in Safari, Chrome and Firefox on my Mac, IE and Chrome on my Windows box as well as Safari on my iPad and iPhone). Images elsewhere as well as the ones I just posted all show up fine. Best guess (as a web developer) is there's something strange about the actual image file that's only manifesting itself for a subset of users. It's definitely weird.

It appears it's not isolated to me either... I'm guessing that's why @apb2148 asked for pics. I've also sent the URL to a number of people and none of them see the pics.

All the more reason to mention the condition in the text of the ad.

Like I said, the $30 is no big deal... I should have asked in retrospect... but it would have been nice to at least get a reply to my PM when I mentioned it. I, personally, would have offered to take it back since it wasn't what the buyer expected, but I don't expect that in this case.

After doing a bit more looking into this, the images are being blocked by the referrer.

You're loading them off of TacomaWorld.

When the browser makes the request to embed them in the page on this site (t4R.org) it sends a little piece of data that says "this image is being loaded on this page." This is the "referrer" header. TacomaWorld is set up so that if the page that's sent as the referrer isn't TacomaWorld it's blocked.

If you've previously visited TacomaWorld and loaded the photo, it will be pulled from the cache on your computer and you'll see it.

If you haven't (like me and most other people), you'll just see a broken image icon (Safari, Chrome) OR nothing at all (Firefox). The exception to this is if you're using something that blocks the referrer header (many firewalls do this as do a lot of security/privacy applications) because if there's no referrer, TacomaWorld shows the image.

In the future put your images on something like PhotoBucket to avoid this issue.

Kinda my point. I have no real use for a cut key.

I suppose someone who needed the guts to rebuild their own key that they threw in the washer or dropped in the lake might want it... but it ain't worth $30 for that. I can get a brand new, uncut, off-brand fobhead key for $25 on Amazon... and choose which color I want. I can't imagine the guts of this thing being worth more than $10-15.

I just bought an original Toyota fobhead G key for $45 from a vendor on eBay, so if I'd have known I was going to get a cut key I'd have never paid $30 for it.

Live and learn, I guess. I still haven't seen a PM response from the seller.
