I've been tossing around the idea of buying a spare tranny more so for a "just in case" purpose.

Any idea on how long they can be stored before it might be a problem?

if you're storing indoors, many years. if you're storing in an indoor climate-controlled facility, it would be almost indefinite.

Interested on behalf of a friend with a failing 01-02 trans. Do you know if this earlier style can be directly swapped in? I assume the driveshafts may be different but I see you have those available as well.

I am no expert, but i believe in 01 and 02 the auto trans was slightly different in some way (probably electronically different)?? . The driveshafts are the same for all 96-02 automatics.

Yeah, digging around some more it looks like the 01-02 does not have the kick down cable so the swap doesn’t work. Oh well! Good luck!

Came back for a look after checking my S/N plate - this is a very, very, close sibling of my transmission. Wish I had a way to afford the shipping out west.
