I'm hoping to upgrade to a 5th gen TE, so I'm putting my lovely 3rd gen up for sale.
1996 Toyota 4Runner Limited (V6, 4wd, E-locker)
Asking $7500.
The truck has an interesting story: bought new by a John Deere engineer in 1995, he had it Ziebart-ed fresh off the dealer floor. He drove it until 2002, when he retired and moved to the Philippines. The truck sat in a garage, driven only briefly during summers, never seeing a winter until I bought it (summer 2013). As a result, this is a SUPER clean vehicle with low miles. I have photographed most of the notable cosmetic blemishes, there is literally only a small handful. I've touched up some minor stone chips on the hood, and will include the touch up paint. Underneath is very clean, no rust on the frame. Only visible rust is a bit on the hitch, and a bit of surface rust on the gas tank skid plate. After I bought the truck, I coated the frame and the inside backs of the bumpers with Fluid Film, and it has held up great. I diligently washed it after every outing on salty roads this winter (not many), and keep it waxed.
I bought it with 99k miles on it, and did the following maintenance/repairs:
front struts (KYB GR2)
rear springs (Moog)
Rear shocks (Monroe air-adjustable)
fan clutch (Aisin)
muffler (Walker stainless)
plugs/wires (NGK)
Axle seals (Toyota)
Timing belt+tensioner (Gates)
Steering rack bushings (Energy Suspension)
Rear brake shoes and drums (Napa shoes, Brembo drums)
199mm Tundra front brake upgrade (rebuilt Tundra calipers, brembo rotors, Advics pads)
New air filter, fuel filter, PCV valve, fluids in diffs/t-case, ATF drain/fill, greased driveshaft
Replaced interior HVAC bulbs
2 year old General Grabber HTS tires with ~15k miles on them, just balanced at the Toyota dealer per TSB-SU002. Very nice quiet road tires that help with mileage.
Miscellaneous things: Pyle touchscreen headunit, tinted windows, rain guards, deep well floor mats+ cargo tray, set of tire chains.
Basically this thing has been gone through and every single typical 3rd gen repair/maintenance has been done, and done well. All accessories work, stereo sounds great. Truck drives great, I get a consistent 20-21mpg out of her on the highway going 70-73mph. A/C blows cold, I just drove down to the Outer Banks and back from Indiana, no surprises.
