3rd GEN '97 4Runner SR5 4x4 3.4L $1,000 San Leandro, CA (SF Bay)
I am selling my 4Runner has it has now become a little to costly for me to keep. She belongs to a good home rather than the junk yard and really need get her off my hands. The rear axel bent and the left rear o-ring blew and is leaking gear oil. It did pass smog this past April but the plan is to non-op it before selling to avoid snapping the axel and causing more damage by taking it to a smog shop to adhere to the CA regs of selling private vehicles. Current mileage is 235,156. She leaks some oil as the gaskets need to be replaced. I installed a new Cat Converter a little over a year ago in addition to a new alternator and belts. She still runs like a champ! Tires are a few years old and is ready for an alignment. There is a primer hood on it from a fender bender some years back. Bumper, radiator, hoses replaced as a result.
Needed work:
rear axel replacement
engine gaskets/o-rings
Timing belt
one left rear tire bolt stripped
small anitfreeze leak under the intake manifold
Another set of brakes
I am asking for $1,000 as their is maintenance needed to be done. I am located in San Leandro, CA
I look forward to hearing from you all.

Thank you Adam. Way better than hauling it to the junk yard.

if you take some pictures of the undercarriage, it may sway some people
it'd be cheaper for someone in the salt belt to buy that, ship it, fix it and drive it for a long time, than to fix the rust on a maintained truck that's spent it's life in salt/snow.

I wish you were somewhere within a hundred or two miles of Phoenix.
I could see taking the rig and using its components to make my 2WD runner into a 4WD.
And using the body of the 4WD to make an economical 2nd vehicle for someone.
Damn CA smog rules. I used to live there, and they suck.
Delivery to Phoenix is out of the question, I assume?

CA smog rules are a burden in some situations. I forgot to add this photo to the original post. The front right corner has a slight dent in it, below the parking light. I wouldn't be opposed to an out-of-state purchase however, delivery charges would be assumed by the buyer. It doesn't appear to be that complex for a sell/buy from CA to AZ between private parties.
