They want 20k for a 10 year old car? If they get 13-15k tell them to take it and run.

Agreed! $15K would seem the ceiling to me. Good looking Runner that seems to be in great shape but gently used is still used. This is not a collector or an investment...

Disclaimer.. I did not make that price lol..
I saw it come in on trade and was like wow thats a low mileage v8 limited runner in great shape.. Ill post it up on the forum when its up for sale..
However it is actually good news for current 4th gen owners and heres how it was explained to me:
The used car prices are determined by the avg selling price of other dealers with the same vehicle, equipment mileage and condition (in this case, v8 4runner with 71k) within a 200+ mile radius. the look at list of other selling prices and try to fit this specific vehicle in those prices to be competitive. Believe it or not.. between rarity, condition, being a limited package, low mileage, and a v8 engine.. 20 grand is a competitive number!
The good news? current 4th gen owners with trucks in great condition are actually increasing in value and if you were to trade it in, you would use that fact or this truck as an example to help you.
Bad news? If your in the market for one from dealers and soon private partys, you should expect to pay more.

Book value on that vehicle is like 12-14k, They will sit on that car for a long time. Also that car had an accident in the rear drops its value even more. Its a mint vehicle but whoever made that price needs to smell the coffee and wake up. Thanks for posting it on the forum and no one is angry at you, just the way dealers love to overprice and then quote 4X4! You'll NEVER pay too much at Riverhead Toyota! Can you find out what they gave the original owner on the trade in? I am really interested of how badly he got ripped off!!!!!!

You'd be surprised. The demand for these is ridiculous and they are selling often for above bluebook. The 6 months I spent looking for mine I got bought out of many that were priced well over blue book. I couldn't believe what people were getting for their 10 year old 4th gen's. Granted I'm in California where everything seems to cost more but it seemed to be a regular occurrence.

If:
No rust
4wd actuator OK
Solid maintenance history (records)
Immaculate inside and out
Engine and transmission are solid
Tires, brakes in great condition
Rear accident was a "fender bender" and repaired well

Agree! You guys saying 13-15k have no clue how much these low mileage v8's are sought after. I searched 6+ months for mine in the southeast. My requirements were <100k and minimal rust (which is unknown on this one).
Finally settled on an 08 Sport 4wd with 90k miles for 18,500. As long as there is minimal rust and the rest of the vehicle is in good condition it will sell easily. I would challenge anyone who thinks otherwise to find 3-5 examples to support their claim. Usually my search for non sr-5 2006-2009 v8's with less than 100k miles resulted in usually ~20 cars in the entire country at any one time.

I'd think so in the context of an exceptionally clean hard-to-find vehicle, but of course, it would not be okay to do en mass. I just don't foresee anyone going that high on purchase price, but the used vehicle market seems to be on a roller coaster...so
