FS 1996 3rd GEN Limited 4Runner 4x4 $3,500 Houston, TX
Hey guys,
My 76 year young mom is in the process of buying a new car and is selling her daily driven 1996 4x4 Limited 4Runner, the dealers that she's been to are not willing to give her much money for her trade-in due to the age and the mileage (~221,000) so I thought I'd list it here and see if anyone is interested.
A little background on the truck and my mom.....
The night before Thanksgiving of 1999 she was involved in an off-set head on collision with another car that broke both of her legs, left hip and right arm, on Thanksgiving day she was in surgery for 14 hours to put in a bunch of screws and plates to hold all of the broken bones together, then she was in ICU for about 4 weeks after that. She spent another 8 weeks in a rehab hospital before coming home. When she was able to move around on her own and started driving again I insisted that she get a 4Runner that we could mount an ARB bumper to so she would be safe driving behind that lovely chunk of Australian steel out front.
She has owned the truck since 2002 or 2003 and has taken excellent care of it with it being serviced by the same mechanic throughout her ownership. She has almost all of the records that include repairs such as timing belt replacements, suspension and steering component replacement (recently spent $4,500 replacing all of the power steering parts from the pump, tie rod ends, steering rack and an alignment) and a ton of other receipts for oil changes and the like.
The truck is totally stock except for the ARB winch capable front bumper that does not have winch mounted nor has it ever.
The bad:
In the interest of full disclosure, the truck has had a few accidents but they were all professional repaired and there's no way to tell that the truck has ever been damaged at all and no frame damage. It does have a few quirks (the ignition switch was replaced a few years ago and it is keyed differently than the rest of the truck, the gas gauge is a little unreliable when the level is below a half tank but when the tank is more that half it reads fine, the stock radio works just the power antenna sometimes doesn't and the lumbar support in the drivers seat is stuck or has come off the tracks but the rest of the power seat works just fine as does the power passenger seat.
The good:
The truck looks great for it age, the A/C blows ice cold, the factory alarm still works, the truck has Michelin tires with lots of tread left, leather seats, sunroof that works and does not leak, power rear window still works great, rear heater works awesome as do all of the windows without issues. The transmission shifts normally as does the transfer case, and the brakes are able to stop the truck quickly and evenly with no puling or vibration.
I will be posting some pictures of the truck soon as I'm out of town now, I should get some pics uploaded this weekend.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions and thanks for looking,
Jess
