I see that it is a Canadian vehicle, the speedometer in Miles or Kilometers?

Good question. It's in miles.

The instrument cluster looks just like the other US-market 1999 4Runner I had years ago.

Did you change to the cluster yourself or was it done by a shop? The reason I ask is because the mileage stays with the cluster and isn't saved the on the ecu.

I guess I am not sure I understand the concern. I am unaware if the instrument cluster has been replaced. The speedometer has measurement for both MPH and KPH, so nothing there would need to change.

I did assume that the odometer reading was in miles, but you're right, it could be in kilometers; I've never actually measured the odometer against a GPS or mile markers. I'll go test it out now to confirm. Perhaps this truck only has ~69,000 miles on it..

I see the concern...

I think they're concerned the truck may have higher mileage than recorded on the cluster if it was changed from a metric to Murican spedometer by an individual and not a reputable shop. Perhaps a carfax or other documentation would put their mind at ease...

Looks like a nice truck, GLWS.

I see the point you're making now. I verified that the odometer is in fact rolling with miles and not kilometers, so perhaps it was changed at some point.

I've reached out to the mechanic shop (Mazzarella's Auto Sales and Service in Vero Beach, FL) that took care of the vehicle since 2003 (it was only in Canada for less than a year according to the AutoCheck report) and see if they have any information. He told me that they do not report their services to CarFax. If I can obtain mileage receipts for work performed as far back as 2004, I could verify any mileage discrepancies indicative of an instrument cluster swap.

Here is the information from the AutoCheck report that I ran tonight. (I had photos of the CarFax from the seller when I purchased it but never ran a report myself. The AutoCheck from today matches the photos I was provided.

Detailed Vehicle HistoryBelow are the historical events for this vehicle listed in chronological order.

Run Date:January 3, 2017 17:25:28 EST
Vehicle:1999 Toyota 4Runner SR5 (JT3HN86R9X0208790)
12/23/1998 BRIDGEWATER,NS
04/01/1999 WILMINGTON, NC 3,673 [The drive from NS to NC is 1,326 miles]
04/04/2000 WILMINGTON, NC
09/20/2000 ELIZABETHTOWN, NC 23,100
09/28/2001 ELIZABETHTOWN, NC
10/04/2002 ELIZABETHTOWN, NC
01/15/2003 FL 46,604
...
A bunch of annual registration renewals from VERO BEACH, FL from 2003 to
2015 without mileages reported.
...
10/10/2016 FL 111,667 Auto Auction [I'm guessing this is where Mazzarella's bought it]
10/11/2016 FL 111,667
11/05/2016 SUGAR LAND, TX EXCLUDED/EXEMPT [When I registered it]

In any case, the vehicle condition definitely does not indicate many more miles that the odometer displays, but this is definitely interesting. Thanks for bringing it up. I'll keep anyone interested updated as I learn more. If anyone is interested and would like the AutoCheck report, I am happy to provide via PM.

Also, I understand it's common when we are looking to buy a Toyota for us to add the vehicle tour our Toyota Owner's site to check for Toyota dealer-provided services - but did you know that when you do that, it removes it from the owner's list of vehicles including any user-inputted services?
