If you haven't already start looking at the Reno craigslist. There are a lot of runners that pop up on it. Here's a 5spd in San Mateo:

because of the low miles, seems fishy but could be gems. Waiting on responses for more pics/VIN and all that before trying to schedule a meet up. I'm also debating on abandoning the 5 speed criteria altogether in favor of just finding a nice ol' rig sooner rather than later.

I'm in the same boat as you are, but I've only been searching for about a month now.
I've sent 3 emails to the guy in "San Mateo" with no response - Seems to be another CL flake.
If anything pops up in NorCal you are interested in I could take a peek for you to avoid you making the trip to only find a heap.

I believe these guys are all together in the odometer fraud business and preying on T4R enthusiasts like us to overpay for their junk.

Seems so, I haven't got a response since I asked for the VIN .
I just saw a pic of some dudes 4th gen in the shadow mica and it made me question my conviction to the 3rd gen life...

If anyone knows of a 07-08 limited shadow mica I could be interested as well

Thanks, I wish it was just in a little better shape. Expanding my search to a unicorn 4th gen so I can experience twice the difficulty in finding a nice rig

Perhaps the seller will be more open to negotiations if it does not sell soon...

Alrighty boys, just checked this one out:
https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/6210836766.html
The dude is the 3rd owner, the carfax had regular maintenance, timing belt done and all that jazz. Had it looked at by a mechanic, there was surface rust since it was from New Jersey and spent some time in Utah.
Pros: good engine maintenance, paint is clean, interior is clean, new tires
Cons: 160k miles, mild surface rust, all brakes need replacing, entire exhaust looks like it was from the titanic, and shocks need replacing.
He was asking 14,700. I told him after seeing all that I would pay 12,250 cash or I walk, he said no. I walked and he just texted me asking 13k. Should I wait for a new ride to come along or take him up on it (Maybe offer 12.5k or something)?

Do you want to keep looking? Do you prefer a 4th Gen over the 3rd Gen?
If you like the rig I'd say stick with your offer of 12,250. He's already called back meaning he needs to get rid of it. If you go higher it means you need to buy it. At least that's how I deal with things like this. If you want it work out a price. If you don't care stick with the offer.

At this point I'm okay with a nice 3rd or 4th gen, I told him I would stand by my previous offer, and now it's a waiting game. Not bothered either way as I can put that money towards brakes, lift and, exhaust which I would have to replace
