2002 Toyota 4Runner Sport edition that I purchased on this forum in September of 2016. Extremely well-maintained with a very long documented service history. I have owned this 4Runner since September of 2016, and have since put a lot of money and time into it. Majority of service has been done at the Toyota dealership, receipts for everything. I also have all of the receipts from the previous owner for everything that he did, which was also a lot. On the Toyota Owners website, I can pull up the original owners service history as well, which is extensive. PA state inspection, done at the dealership, is good through 10/19. I will list the major highlights of the service history, but there is simply too much to list all of it. I have daily-driven this since I purchased it with 271K miles on it, and it has never let me down once. The body is completely rust-free, and the frame only has minor surface rust here and there, but very little overall. Here is a brief list of some of the more important things:
- 11/18 - Timing belt, water pump, thermostat, all three accessory belts $899.40 at Toyota
- 10/18 - Both rocker panels repainted, to include factory chip guard. The rockers were not rusty, but when I removed the running boards, years of use had rubbed a line into them. Re-spray was preventative $634.30
- 9/18 - Transfer case flushed, spark plugs changed, front differential fluid changed, coolant flushed and changed, PA state inspection 572.79 at Toyota. I also added NGK wires.
- 10/17 - Complete right rear axle replacement to include rear axle, drum/shoe, diff breather tube, wheel bearing, oil seals, ABS rotor, differential fluid change, wheel studs, etc. $1537.14 at Toyota
- 10/17 - Complete rear hatch repainted, to include new OEM emblems. Previous owner did not disclose a paint chip that turned into a rust bubble, and I could not tolerate the rust as it would’ve surely gotten worse $777.59
- 9/17 - Transmission fluid flush/change with filter $221.90
- 7/17 - Old Man Emu complete suspension/"Light load" 2" lift to include shocks and springs, 890 in the rear and 880 in the front $931.55. The rear shocks rusted a lot faster than expected, ARB warrantied them. So I have a brand new set of rear shocks included with the truck. The ones that are on work perfectly, but I was worried about what could come of it. They warrantied them and I have yet to put them on.
- 5/17 - Complete OEM rear brakes to include drums, shoes, hardware $418.69 at Toyota
- 10/16 - Valve cover gaskets (felpro), PCV valve/grommet $288.32
- Big 3 kit from a user on this forum. I only have the negative/ground on, but I have the positive harness as well.
- New WeatherTech front mats last fall, black, $127.95
This list is not everything, by far, but it is a lot of the major things that have been done. I have the factory owner’s manuals, window sticker, 3 keys, 2 remotes, and 2 OEM keys that have not been cut yet. I have done both front and rear brakes, flushed/changed mostly all fluids (Transmission, transfer case, front/rear diffs, coolant), timing belt service, drive belts, spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, regular oil changes, etc. Again, for a complete list, please contact me and we can go over it at length. I replaced small things in the interior like an OEM arm rest since it had a rip when I got it, the passenger window/lock switch trim since it was cracked, and a dw other odds and ends. I have invested over $7,000 in this truck, and that does not include the price a paid for it or the cost to ship it here from Idaho ($900). I do have the factory spare that I took of because it looks silly with the lift, as well as both regular skid plates and hardware which are in great shape, and the hideous 2002 Sport Edition skid. Also, the running boards which I couldn’t give away. As one forum user put it, you can find more use for a kick in the nuts than the factory running boards. Nevertheless, I have them.
What does it NEED: Really, nothing. It runs and drives great. If I were going to keep it here is a few things I would do: The battery works, even with hard starts in temperatures nearing zero. But it’s about 5 years old. The weather stripping around the drivers door is worn, could be replaced. Its on the bottom and doesn’t leak.
I have been daily driving this up until April of this year. I’m only getting rid of it because I bought a 2019 Civic Si, and I also have a 5th Gen limited for my 4Runner fix. I just simply don’t have the time and space for this anymore. The amount of money that I put into it was under the impression that I would keep it forever. I am not dying to get rid of it, and I will not be beat up on the price too badly. I will entertain reasonable offers, and I can help orchestrate shipping if need be. If you have any questions, want some other pictures, or really anything, DM me or call/text 814-873-9171. It is for sale locally as well. Thanks for looking!
I have a lot of pictures, let me know what you would like to see! is 8 really the max?
