Selling off my 2002 SR5 2WD with Sport Edition with 266,xxx miles. I bought the truck in Jan of 2018 and have used it as my primary vehicle since. The truck is extremely clean with maintenance records that date back to 2008 along with many of the original packets that came with the truck when new. This thing is a freaking time machine! The previous owners were very meticulous about maintenance and I continued the tradition installing many new parts during my ownership.
Overall, I put a lot of care into this vehicle and mechanically she's in good shape - I wouldn't hesitate to take it on a long road trip. This past July I drove it from central Texas to Destin, FL and back without any issues (and no complaints from my mother and grandmother in law!).
Don't be turned off by the 2WD either. It's very capable of all but the most demanding of trails and I've used it around site at work without issue. This is a perfect work truck.
I'm being detailed in the description because I hate when I look at a car and it's misrepresented by the seller. I want to be as transparent as possible so feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer promptly.
I'm asking $4,900 OBO and am located in Waco, TX.
MECHANICAL
The good:
- Timing belt changed at 2xx,xxx miles. Exact mileage shows on carfax.
- Hayden 678 Transmission cooler installed by me this summer. Verified no pink milk shake prior.
- Lower ball joints replaced by me in Feb 2018.
- New plugs and wires installed Feb 2018.
- Bilstein shocks installed by me Aug 2018.
- New Copper Evolution H/T 265/75R16 tires purchased Feb 2019. Plenty of life left.
- Truck runs and shifts flawlessly.
- Rear window works.
- Doesn't burn oil. Oil changed every 5,000 miles with high mileage synthetic.
- Regularly getting 19-20 mpg.
- Exhaust fully intact.
- No rust.
The bad:
- Check engine light intermittently comes on. Checked with scanner and evap codes are being thrown. Not sure if a sensor is going.
- Truck has security system with key fob, but fob has been spotty lately. Right now it just locks the doors, but at one time unlocked and rolled down the rear window. Fix might be as simple as getting a new fob.
EXTERIOR
The good:
- Sport Edition!!!
- HID headlights installed by previous owner.
- Aftermarket clear corners and red tail lights installed by previous owner.
- Wind-guards installed by previous owner.
- Paint and body in good shape for 17 year old truck. Few dings and paint chips on the front, but little fading or discoloration.
- Replaced rear wiper in 2018.
The bad:
- Wheel center caps have seen better days.
- Chip in the passenger headlight. It's been like that since I bought it and hasn't been an issue.
- Paint scuff on mirror from where wife caught the side of the garage pulling out. Will attempt to repair.
- Antenna not present. Bought it like this, but doesn't seem to be a problem for my bluetooth FM transmitter.
INTERIOR
The good:
- Super clean. Very little wear on the seats and carpet for a truck with this many miles.
- Still have the cargo cover.
- Non-smoker vehicle.
- No weird stains or odors.
The bad:
- Steering wheel and center arm rest have seen better days.
- Rear cup holder was never present when I bought it.
- Random center console lights are out. I removed them and planned on replacing, but never got around to it.
- Head unit buttons worn out, but everything still functional.
- Dash has weird stain of unknown origin. Purchased in this condition.
- Dash is starting to pull up in front of the steering wheel. Can only be noticed from outside the truck and only when pointed out.
Some pictures after a quick wash and vacuum.
