FS: 1996 SR5 Manual 4x4 E-locker; 270k resto-mod; no rust! (in WI for 5 months) SOLD
1996 Toyota 4Runner SR5
5-speed manual with factory e-locker
Evergreen Pearl with Oak interior
down to $4800 firm
Hi all,
With great hesitation I'm posting my sweet 3rd gen for sale. Wife wants a Forester and for the type of trails we have access to, the 4Runner is overkill.
Bought it in June from the original owner (!) through Metric Offroad in Grand Junction, CO (Toyota specialists). They made sure it was ready for the mountains and we flew out, bought it, and took it on an awesome adventure before road tripping back to WI.
It spent its life in the high desert of Grand Junction. The semi-arid conditions mean essentially no rust, but also meant strong sun and clear coat damage. Knowing the condition of the rust buckets in my area, I was searching for NO rust and gladly traded that for the peeling clearcoat. The previous owner hit a deer and replaced everything but the hood. Was told they wanted the dented hood as a reminder to be cautious. If it bothers you, hoods go for ~$200 used for OEM or new aftermarket. Could even go with the hood-scooped sport hood if that’s your jam.
It’s ready to go anywhere. I’m happy to pick you up at the Madison airport or load in onto a truck for uShip or whatever. I have more than $7000 into it, but think that’s a fair price and will chalk up the loss to the fun it provided on our trip.
Pertinent details:
Timing belt was done at 226k by PO. Due again at 314k. Clutch was replaced at some point and is nice and strong. Battery was new last year. No known issues. All windows, lights, etc. work as they should. The dashboard clock even works! Has rear cargo cover. E-locker works of course. Has factory alarm known as RS3000, but no fobs currently.
What I’ve done to it (past ~4 months):
Bilstein 5100 with Old Man Emu 880/906 (front is adjustable and currently at lowest setting)
Falken Wildpeak AT3W (stock size: 265/70r16)
ARB diff breather kit (for rear diff; 3 remaining ports for whatever you want)
Toyota lower balljoints (with new bolts)
Outer tie rod ends (Triple 5, Made in Japan)
Front sway bar bushings (Prothane)
Toyota heater control valve
Toyota thermostat
Toyota oil cooler hoses and radiator hoses
Toyota red long-life coolant
Silicone heater hose kit
Toyota stainless rear heater lines
Redline synthetic fluids in F/R diffs, T-case, 5-speed trans (all OEM drain plug washers)
Toyota front seat belt (driver)
Toyota rear wiper arm
RainX front wipers
Toyota gas cap
New headlight assemblies (glass lens)
Full synthetic engine oil
Fluid Film treated entire underbody and inside frame rails
Weathertech floor mats
Firestone alignment
Front brake hoses and flush with synthetic DOT 3&4 fluid
Premium gas since I’ve had it
