WTB 5th Gen 2010-2013 Trail Edition Western US
I am currently in the market to purchase a new vehicle. I am looking anywhere in California and surrounding states please (Western states). I am not in a rush to buy and I will be patient in finding one that I like and fits my criteria (yes I am super picky) so please keep an eye out for me for any that may pop up in your area for sale, or you know someone possibly looking to sale, or you yourself are looking to sale. I would greatly appreciate any help since these are harder to come by in well taken care of excellent condition.
Years: 2010 to 2013
Model: Trail Edition (not the premium just the regular trail)
Color: Black preferably (2nd choice charcoal/dark grey/gray 3rd choice silver)
Mileage: prefer under 120k but if it is super clean (than I would consider under 165k)
Options: KDSS, touchscreen JBL audio with rear camera, sunroof, sliding rear deck
100% OEM Stock (nothing added to it at all with the exception of a window tint or something along those lines)
No accidents/clean title
Other criteria: I am looking for a 1 owner vehicle, one that has receipts/proof of all scheduled maintenance, one that hasn't been beat the crap out of/hardly taken offroad and when it was it was very light off roading, has not seen snow (I do not want to deal with rust later on I plan on keeping this vehicle for the next 20 plus years. I made that mistake with a jeep I bought years back and it eventually had rust issues), was not used to tow anything, super clean inside and out and was just really well cared for and taken care of.
Like I said I am looking to keep this vehicle for the next 20 plus years and drive it until it falls apart so I want one that will get me into the next 20 years. I know there will only be a handful that will meet this criteria and I am willing to be patient. I take care really good care of vehicles so I would like to purchase one from someone who does the same.
Thanks for reading and I appreciate any help with keeping an eye out for me.

Haha I like your taste in vehicles. Dang Nice Find! It looks clean and well taken care of. Yeah I'll be honest I have started to browse outside of the my west coast range just because there is such limited supply and I realize I may have to end up making that longer drive to bring a vehicle back if it is the one that checks off all my boxes.
Enjoy your new rig and thanks for sharing.

There is no premium trail edition from 10-13. Just Trail.

Geez, I need to be looking in the Midwest! There are a couple of Trail W/ KDSS my area, '11 and '14, with approx 115-125k on them, and they're asking for $25k!

I guess I should not have listed it like that, I didn't think it would cause any confusion. I should have explained it better. I was just referring to 2013 trails because some of them have the same exact "premium" seats that come in the 2014-current premium trail editions. The leather like seats. I prefer the cloth seats I guess I should have just listed it that way instead of mentioning the word premium. I have only personally seen 2013's with this option. I actually test drove a 2013 new off lot from my local dealer that had the premium seats in it and I have seen a couple from time to time for sale on the internet again they were only 2013's. Maybe the dealership personally installed them since they had those seats available from the 2014's that were coming out? It is on the rare side to see them, but I would prefer just the good ole cloth seats nothing fancy haha.

Is the 11' one you're talking about the black one on craigslist in Seattle? Because that guy either already sold it or he just never replies to his emails haha. I contacted him about a week or two ago and no reply. But yeah the prices seem to be a little steeper in the Pacific Northwest especially Washington. I am with you on this one we may need to start looking elsewhere.

Yep! That many miles for that price, even though it’s a 4Runner; is it worth it? I asked my mechanic and his reply was why not just pay that price for down payment on a new one? No hassle for the first 100k. Easier $$said than done, right?

The 2010-13 trail had two options: KDSS and NAV. That’s it. Port options included the sliding cargo tray, remote start and maybe some other Nicknack. They came with cloth seats, no other option.

Me too! Got my 2010 Trail from Carlsbad Toyota 2 weeks ago for $17,800. 145k miles, KDSS , but no nav. One owner, clean title, full service history, no accidents, new tires & windshied and 6 month warranty. Was originally looking out of state but didn't want to deal with trying to pass CA emissions. I had 5 people waiting in line behind me wanting to buy it!

[QUOTE=Shutterbugmc;3511580]Yep! That many miles for that price, even though it’s a 4Runner; is it worth it? I asked my mechanic and his reply was why not just pay that price for down payment on a new one? No hassle for the first 100k. Easier $$said than done, right?
For the price that guy was asking for it nope haha definitely wasn't worth it. I was hoping to beat down his price a little but he never even replied so never got the opportunity to negotiate. He was literally asking the same price I have seen 2014-2016 trails go for with a lot lower mileage. Definitely easier $$said than done haha Ive gone that route before of buying a new trail and the insurance on a new one is almost the same cost as a monthly payment for a cheap vehicle (It was roughly $210 extra a month for insurance on top of my other vehicle. I was paying $160 a month for two vehicles prior and after selling my jeep and adding the 4runner it was $280 a month the other vehicle I kept was a crappy older ford focus (my gas mileage car) which was super cheap to insure). So keep the cost of insurance in mind. I am sure you can get cheaper insurance but I personally make sure I have good protection in certain areas. If I got one I would hope I don't problems before $200k but I agree it would be nice to not have to worry about anything with a new one cuz you never know.

So you are the one that snagged it!!! haha Congrats on the new rig. Yeah I saw it and called the dealer after it was just posted. The sales guy said I was one of a couple of people to call and told me to get there right now if I wanted to buy it since no one who called said they would look at it yet but I couldn't get down there right then and knew by the time I got down there it would be taken. The carfax and the price is what hooked me. The carfax showed all the maintenance was done on time and like you said one owner. Warranty and one year free oil changes right? The car sales person wouldn't send me photos of it since there was none posted and I live an hour away and wanted them before I made the drive thats another thing that held me up on going down there. Judging by your photo it looks clean. Well I am glad to see the person who got it is a member of this forum and that its got a good home. Enjoy it! Thanks for sharing appreciate it.

Yeah that is correct. I googled 2013's with premium seats right after my last reply because it intrigued me as to why I have seen a couple 2013's only (It is a coincidence I guess that I have only seen 2013 and not 2010-2012) with premium seats in them and couldn't find anything on it. So my hunch of why the new 2013 I test drove at my local dealer that had them (I physical put my to butt cheeks on them for my test drive) must be right. For some odd reason they must have taken the liberty themselves and installed them in it to maybe to sell it for more money (they were asking the same price as a 2014 trail premium) or something. It was a salsa red 2013 trail that had been sitting on the lot for over a year. So the new style was already out by then which means those seats were available by then. It also had the trd sema wheels in matte grey/gray with all terrain tires which did not come from the factory on 2013's but can very easily be installed just the like the seats (they are all 5th gens and things are swappable). The other nick nack you are referring to is PARTY MODE haha this one had that as well which is a well missed option RIP. This is where my regret is I chose the newer one instead (even though I like the look of the 2010-2013 way better). I drove home a new style 5th gen premium trail that day.
So the other one I have seen for sale on the internet that also had premium seats either the dealership did the same thing when they bought it or the owner themselves liked those seats and made the swap and upgraded them just like other modifications people do to their rigs. So while 99% have cloth seats that still leaves a small percentage and I am just putting what I am looking for in my ad and what I do not want, which I guess would fall under keeping it oem/stock.
Anyways I am glad we got this straightened out and that the mystery is solved and I now know why they had premium seats in them and that they were simple swapped out.

Thanks. It was a 45 min drive for me, but I took the chance. I went the evening they listed it and bought it the next day. I almost walked as although the underside was clean as a whistle there were several dings all over the body, but they convinced me that their dent removal guy could fix them - and he did a pretty good job. I also managed to get them to spray the rear spoiler as the clear coat was oxidizing and I got the weatherstrip replaced on the rear door and sunroof. The sales manager regretted agreeing to all that as the next person said she'd take it as is. Oh well. There were a few broken trim pieces that I've replaced along with the liftgate panel and the rear center seat belt receptacle and I took it to Irvine Toyota yesterday to have them enable the automatic windows with the remote and the door lock. The wife just got an FJ so now we're looking to find some trails!! Good luck with your search.
