Arrow SOLD: 2000 4Runner SR5, Silver, 5-SPD, 4x4, Salem, OR, $10500

The Car:
Upgrades:
  • 7-Pin trailer connector added:
    • Dedicated 10AWG power from battery switched via a voltage sensing relay on 30A breaker. The relay closes when voltage from the battery rises above 13.2VDC and opens when the voltage drops below 12.7VDC. Installed this to ensure trailer was only provided power when charging system was operational.
    • Wired for trailer brakes and come with a Tekonsha 90195 controller installed.
    • Trailer lights re-wired to using an isolated trailer light controller. Controller uses a dedicated powerline from the battery (ties into existing lights for sensing but power comes straight from the battery, rather than from the lights). Did this so if the lights on the trailer shorted, it wouldn't knock out the vehicle lights too.
  • HID upgrade with Morimoto FX-R projectors, Morimoto XB35 ballasts, and white halo rings March 2015. HID bulbs were replaced June 2019. 4500K temperature bulbs.
  • DRL de-activated (disconnected DRL resistor, so system can easily be re-activated if desired)
  • LED stoplights
  • LED interior lights
  • Diode installed on alternator sensing relay (MK3 alternator voltage booster). Gives 14.8VDC at the battery now which is what the Odyssey AGM battery needs for a proper recovery cycle after a start.
  • Odyssey 34R-PC1500T AGM battery installed January 2020.
  • Tacoma fixed radio antenna conversion (still have the retractable antenna, but will need repairs to the plastic pusher if you want to use it).
  • New Cooper Discoverer ATP 265/75 R16 tires installed at 165,492 miles in Feb 2019.
  • Airlift 1000 airbags installed in rear coils
  • Rear coils replaced with Moog July 2020 (rear was starting to sag more than the airlift bags could compensate)
  • Speakers all replaced with Kicker 40CS54 in back and 40CSS654 up front (including tweeters).
  • K&N engine intake filter (not the cold intake upgrade)
  • Front tundra brake upgrade with Power Stop kit July 2020 (still have original calipers if you want them)
  • Replaced power steering roller guide with Tacoma slide guide
  • Replace power steering rack gaskets

Maintenance:
  • Oil just changed December 2020
  • Valve cover gaskets changed July 2020
  • Timing belt and water pump replaced April 2012 at 113760 miles
  • Lift gate gas struts replaced July 2020
  • Front right wheel bearing and half-axle replaced 2013 while troubleshooting some road noise (they weren't the cause, see next two notes on driveshafts). I still have the original Toyota half-axle in case you want to swap it back in.
  • Universal joint on front drive shaft replaced after failed spider bearing in 2013 (by driveshaft shop)
  • Rear driveshaft aft-universal joint overhauled in 2013 (by driveshaft shop)
  • Upper and lower ball joints replaced 2015. Replaced the right upper control arm out of an abundance of caution after being a dingbat and over-torqueing the upper ball joint nut.
  • Fuel filter replaced 2015

Known Issues:
  • Occasional check engine light. Seems to go away and stay away if I regularly clean the MAF. Had suspected it was the O2 sensor going out. Hasn't been frequent enough to both me with the ~$100 O2 sensor replacement.
  • Driver's door lock occasionally sticks in the un-lock position. Probably just needs to be cleaned / lubricated.
  • Two dents on aft lift gate from backing into the garage door. Long story short, garage door started closing while I was backing out. Didn't know this was happening until…crunch. The part that really pissed me off was the garage door didn't have a scratch!
  • Few small dents in bumper above the trailer hitch from…um…well we won't talk about that…
  • Paint has mostly peeled or faded away from all exterior plastic parts. In good condition on the rest of the truck.

Other Items:
  • Overhead surf module project (not installed and included with sale)
    • Bought a damaged surf unit off eBay
    • Used housing to mount a new modern display
    • Electronics from old surf unit all functional when removed. Just the display was damaged / inoperative.
    • Display still runs over $100 new.
    • Note, I broke the solder pad off the jumper for the Serial line when converting the display to TTL. TTL works fine. You'll just have to use a TTL converter if you want to use native serial on your computer.
  • Headlights need to be re-adjusted after replacing the rear springs
  • Various spare parts also included in the sale (see photos)
  • I have the retractable cargo cover for the back, just not shown in the photos
  • Carpet mats have been kept in a box since purchase. Still look new.
