I am selling my 3rd gen 4Runner. This vehicle has been treated like I panned to keep it forever because I did. I recently bought a v8 4th gen to be able to tow a car. Nearly all maintenance items were completed with Toyota OEM parts save a few upgrades. I have maintained it religiously and it has never failed me.
I am the 2nd owner, since 2015, and purchased it from a family that had just purchased a new 5th gen. It was their daily driver and it was mine as well. It has no history of accidents and I have done preventative maintenance to prevent the common failure points. I've prevented the pink milkshake, replaced Lower Ball joints with OEM, and staved off rust. It is not perfect but it is a great vehicle and I would not hesitate to drive across the country tomorrow. With the new suspension, tie rods, and ball joints, it drives better than any other one you will drive. It truly drives great.

Below is a list of the big ticket maintenance items.
188k miles - OEM Lower ball joints, Axle seals, radiator - Preventative
197k miles - Toyota Transmission fluid, DOT Brake, Synthetic T-Case + Diff fluids changed
225k miles - OEM Timing Belt + Water pump
227k miles - OEM Front brake pads
229k - Safe-T-Cap install + Frame clean-up + Suspension Install
229k - Fluid Filmed - 11/2020
235k - OEM Inner/Outer Tie-Rods + Upper Ball joints installed
In fall of 2020, since I was not commuting, I used the opportunity to have the frame cleaned up and a Safe-T-Cap patch was welded in on the Passenger side trailing arm. This was preventative and the mount had not separated. The seam weld was showing more rust than I preferred and I addressed it as a safety item. I have before pics for those who are curious. The rest of the undercarriage was cleaned up, prepped, and painted with POR15.
Everything on this 3rd gen works. 4WD, sunroof, rear window, locks, windows, Low gear, etc. It all works. The only thing that does not work is the A/C and the climate control is finicky, like all 3rd gens. I have not attempted to diagnose the A/C. Seems that components work and clutch engages but I've never charged the system. Driver seat is torn, like all 3rd gens.
