Hey all - I've got a bone stock clean '99 SR5 that I'm looking to sell. I'm the second owner. The previous owner used it mostly as a grocery getter and was dealer serviced from brand new till I bought it in 2015. So I've got service records all the way back to 1999.
Since then, I've done all the maintenance myself (with the help of this forum! Timmy the Toolman, you are a god.) and have kept it running in great shape. Is totally, 100% stock (mostly because I couldn't afford any upgrades
) and fairly low mileage for its age.
This rig has been rock solid for me and I really wish I could justify keeping it. But life. Ya know?
- Asking $7.5k.
Maintenance:
- Oil change and filter done every 5k miles.
- Mostly done with Mobile 1 high mileage (the occasional Castrol GTX High Mileage) and Toyota OEM filters.
- Mobile 1 gear oil used for fluid change in rear and front diff and transfer case (~10k miles ago).
- Driveshaft lube with both the MP and Moly grease as per the FSM (every other oil change).
- Tires rotated and inspected every 5k miles at Les Schwab.
- Engine coolant flush and fill probably about 30k miles ago (should have written that one down). Filled with the red Toyota Long Life Coolant.
- Transmission fluid drain and fill at ~170k miles. Had a transmission-specific shop do this to let me know if they saw anything wrong (metal pieces, discoloration, etc). Clean bill of health came back (score).
- Spark plugs were replaced with OEM NGKs ~30k miles ago (again should have written that one down). I did pull one not too long ago just to check in and all looked good.
- Fuel filter replaced with OEM Toyota part around ~175k miles.
- New liftgate struts.
- Air filter replaced every ~15k miles or so or when it was dirty.
- MAF and throttle body cleaned when air filter replaced (since I was there).
- New front brake rotors and pads done by dealer when purchased.
- Headlight bulb replacement with OEM halogen bulbs.
- New battery this Spring.
- New ignition cylinder (old one was worn out).
- Rear wiper blade replaced a few years ago.
- Front blades have been replaced probably every 12-18 months.
Other things:
- It's on LT 265/75 tires. They probably have another ~15k miles left on them.
- WeatherTech mats in the front (both driver and passenger) and Husky liner for the back included.
- Chains too.
- No rust. Been an Oregon vehicle since new.
- Here's a copy of the carfax from when I bought the vehicle.

The bad:
- Sunroof is ceased up and has been since I purchased it. Before buying I had the tech at the dealer check it out. They told me I had "bad cables". Eventually, I took the time to drop the headliner and sunroof to check it out. Turns out, the cables are totally ceased up in their housing. The motor works great, but them cables ain't goin nowhere.
- Sunroof has the infamous leak that is common on the forums. It's not that bad really and actually manageable.
- The rear window *just* died. Literally like a month ago. I think it's just a bad relay. The motor wants to go, but the orange relay box clicks. Bummer.
- There is a
very slow oil leak. Like a few drops between oil changes. It's not something I really worry about since the oil level never gets all that low. The engine bay is dry, but down low it's oily. The drip comes off the bash plate. It just hasn't been enough of a problem for me to dig into.
- The new ignition cylinder hasn't been rekeyed yet to match the door locks. So you have 1 key to open and another to start. I have the factory code to rekey the ignition cylinder, but haven't gotten a chance to take it over and get it fixed. Got a new job this year and haven't had the chance to get to a locksmith.
- The key cylinder in the liftgate does not work. The plastic housing it lives in snapped and now can't really be used. Just one of those things that can happen with a 20+ year old car and that hasn't been enough of an issue for me to deal with.
- A couple tiny paint chips here and there that just come from being a daily driver for 20+ years.
