FS: 3rd gen - 2001 4runner SR5 - $2750 Dallas, TX
I am selling my 2001 Toyota 4runner SR5 that has 298,000 miles. This vehicle has served me well over the last 9 years that I've owned it but after a guy changed lanes into me going 25 mph and it needing new catalytic converters it is time to sell.
The good:
-Timing belt, water pump, and all associated parts were changed in the last 15,000 miles.
- New lower ball joints put on in the last 24,000 miles.
- New Michelin defender tires put on 1 year ago.
-Oil changes with Mobil 1 full synthetic every 5k.
- Spark plugs and wires changed within last 3 years.
-Does not burn or lose any oil.
-Minimal surface rust on frame.
-Overall the interior is in good shape considering the age of vehicle. Will post pictures this weekend after returning home from working out of state.
The not so good (for full transparency):
-4runner needs new catalytic converters. It performs fine running around town but when getting on the interstate it is extremely slow to accelerate.
-In Feb of 2022, the transmission experienced the pink milkshake. It was caught immediately and the radiator was replaced and at least 10 gallons of ATF was pumped through the trans. It has been daily driven post milkshake and shifts 100 percent fine. There is at least 20,000 miles on trans after milkshake and it is not showing any signs of weakness.
-A few weeks ago an uber driver was missing his turn into an apartment complex and changed lanes without looking causing damage to the drivers door, running board, and rear tire well trim, We both were only doing around 25 mph so it is only cosmetic damage.
I must say it hurts me to get rid of this vehicle but it is time. I have never owned anything so reliable.
