2000 4Runner Highlander Edition (Sport) Black on Grey Blown Headgasket 245k miles
Looking to sell my 2000 Highlander edition (sport) as a project with a blown head gasket. Truck is a black on grey automatic 4x4 with ~245k miles. Putting a starting price at $3,000 as I have no idea what it’s worth, but definitely negotiable so don't hesitate to reach out if interested and we can try to work something out. Pretty motivated to get it out of my driveway at this point. Located in Kennett Square, PA.
First two pics are of its glory days, then three in its current sad state. Happy to text or e mail larger pics, was limited by attachment file size.
Head gasket blew starting with a small leak on cyl 3 but is now bad, after the radiator went and it overheated about 6 months prior. Had been able to add coolant and start periodically since (have battery put on a tender), but blows a ton of white smoke. I did just briefly try starting it after letting it sit longer than normal and wasn’t able to, however. I’ve had it since Feb 2015 with 205k and love it, but after months of deliberating I don’t see having the time or space to work on it myself and hope it can go to someone who will fix it up and use it.
* Radiator is basically new.
* Timing belt and water pump were done a couple years ago, with maybe 15k max on them (not sure how much that matters if head has to come off)
* Newer 275/75 16 Nitto ridge grapplers.
* Spidertrax 1.25” spacer adaptors (bolt to hub, wheels bolt to them).
* Tundra front brake swap.
* Old man emu lift kit (PO at 133k) with icon rear shocks (me), but I’d replace at some point outside of rear shocks
* Stainless steel cat back exhaust (oem style but stainless).
* Transmission was rebuilt at 201k under previous ownership, have the receipt for that somewhere.
* External trans cooler instead of the integrated radiator one that can fail and mix w the coolant (PO at time of transmission rebuild)
Cons
* Blown headgasket on 1,3,5 cylinder head
* Front OME shocks are probably tired (done by PO at 133k). Those and front and rear OME springs are rusty.
* Suspension bushings overall probably could be refreshed too but hadn’t been an issue for inspection etc (passed March 2023, didn’t take it this year).
* Frame has a lot of surface rust, not structural yet according to the shop that inspects it.
* Clear coat is now peeling on hood and some of the fender flares. Lots of rock chips etc, but no crazy dents.
