Finally installed my ARB skids. They've been in my shed for a month and I was getting sick of tripping over them so here they are.

Thankfully the install was pretty straight forward because the directions were vague at best.

Finished up installing my BudBuilt sliders today, I've been driving around with just one during a two day rain delay.

I went with the partial tread plate bump-outs and I think they look great.

I did trim one of my rocker panels to fit with the sliders but was unimpressed with the look so I've removed both of them for now. I'm going to get the trail rockers, mud flaps and fender over moldings, will post pics when I get them installed.

Painted the bottom of the fender over molding black so it's not as noticeable that something is missing.

CB installed

So I've been using a hand held CB for wheeling trips and to say that the thing sucks would be an understatement. Even with the stubby mag mount antenna it came with the range is only 3/4 to maybe 1 mile, add some trees and a hill or two and...well it sucks worse. So time for a new one.

Got the Cobra 75 WXST, seems pretty popular with the offroad crowd and I haven't seem many complaints so the choice was easy.

Mounted a 4' Firestik II on the rear hatch using a Comet RS720 mount and a medium duty spring

Ran the wire up to the top of the hatch using plastic cable clips and stainless screws with a little silicon in each hole.

Fished the wire down the rear pillar then forward behind the interior panel and down into the rocker panel wiring trough. This is where I ran into a slight issue, I was short and was only at the right side kick panel. 18 feet doesn't go far these days Thankfully Cobra makes a 4' mic extension for the 75 WXST so I ordered that but won't have it till next week. So I mounted the remote box behind the kick panel which made finding a power source quite easy and for now just have the mic slung over the steering column

When I get the extension I'll run it up under the dash and over to the console where i'll find a more permanent home for it so stay tuned for those pics

Tomorrow I'm off to the local CB guy to have him tune the antenna.

How does the coax go from the outside of the hatch to inside the rear? Also, is the wire coming off the mount part of your coax or is that some kinda leader wire that is part of the mount, and that connects to the coax? I'm needing to do this.

Well ideally I would have routed it as Miijfwb23 (scroll down a bit) did by following all the other wires from the hatch but in my haste I had the co-ax all the way up to the kick panel before I realized I messed up. I didn't feel like redoing it so it wraps through the hatch opening and then into the pillar.

Nope no leader it's part of the co-ax. I used an 18' Firestik FireRing Co-ax cable and the Firestik K-4R stud mount. The co-ax I used was nice, the PL259 connector is 2 piece which makes it much easier to fish behind trim panels or through small holes.
